Changing inner tubes suck Monday, July 02, 2012 2:16 PM (permalink)
I just put a new tube in my sons dirt bike. Wouldn't you know it I pinched the tube. Now I have to take the brand new tube out and patch it. I used a very blunt tire iron on the tire but still pinched it anyway .Anybody have any tips for my next try?

Yeah use something very dull, and blunt. Spoons work excellent for bikes, but dirt bikes of course need something stronger.

Also when you do get it in, and the tire is on, air it up VERY lightly, like 3lbs or so, then work the tire, and check all around the rim, to ensure the tube isn't hung between the rim and tire. Then keep airing it up, while making sure it airs up good.

But I hear ya man... At a bmx comp last year, I had to change 3 flats. So irritating.

Inflate it a little should do the trick.

I don't see the problem with tubes.  Then again, I've changed them out so many times before, I lost count.

If you don't need to take the tire off, cut the old tube and whack it out.  Slide the new tube around the rim and then under the tire bead.  Gently inflate to let it settle in before airing it up to finally pressure.
