Looks freaking sweet!! I thought about doing the same thing after seeing this on OCN but worried it would screw the warranty so I ended up using copper heatsinks instead, I should be getting my 3rd card monday!

    thanks for the idea!!!

I am not worried about the warranty. I still have one unmolested case sitting in the closet from my work computer.. if one dies ill just slap it on and ship-er out .

i have also had lots of luck with the EVGA Products I have purchased so I have no worries

Having an extra air cooler is nice, If they sold air coolers like they did with the 580's that's probably what I would of did.

Just a fast question m8, do you need a fan blowing some fresh air to cool the VRAM and Mosfets ?

I do but I don't know if you really need them because all they use is a backplate to cool off the extra 2GB of ram on the back side of the card. I used some of those little old CPU fans they seem to put off a lot of air for there size.

Hrm, After seeing this thread last month I went out and got the EK waterblock.  I am having issues under load though.  Some games play fine and others peg it to 90+ C.  Unlike the setup above I kept the front face plate with fan (I dremeled the face plate so the EK block could fit.)  I'm wondering if I should get low profile heatsinks to attach to the face plate.

Didn't see anyone ask, I'm rather curious about your chassis/case, is that a desk?  Could you post a few more pictures of that?  The woodgrain is a nice backdrop to the setup.
How CPU watts relate to degrees? - How can overclocking affect CPU lifespan? - TEC/Peltier definitions, formulas and temperature estimations

For Intel processors, 0.123 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].  This includes around 30% overhead, so it isn't minimum for operation.  TDP is not actual per CPU, it is a range for multiple processors to qualify for the same OEM cooler and power rating, and allows Intel to debut future processors in the same TDP.
