Bad luck!
Saturday, June 30, 2012 10:47 AM
( permalink)
It all started when I special ordered from our local authorized re-seller the new issued graphic card "EVGA GTX 670". I got a defective one, so I had to send it back to EVGA and get a replacement. Which also means that I had to get in to the shipping nightmare which I wanted to avoid by purchasing from our local re-seller. EVGA recommended UPS or FedEx which I avoided and used Canada Post/USPS @ a cheaper price and paid no insurance or any extras. This is not the point, They attempted to deliver on Saturday and EVGA is closed weekends. However, USPS didn't leave the package at the door and left them a notice which I had to go to the USPS website to schedule a re-delivery for the next day "Monday" or I will be waiting until someone from EVGA schedule one. Everything worked well with Canada Post/USPS. Evga got the package undamaged and issued my RMA replacement. Here comes the nightmare, EVGA used UPS to delivere and gave me the tracking number to follow up. I stayed at home all day waiting for my replacement which never arrived. It was scheduled to be delivered by the end of June 28, 2012. I waited till around 6:30 PM then I started to worry. I checked the tracking number and the result was delivered "left at: Front door" @ 11.22 AM. Went out to check and there was nothing not even a notice. Went insdie asked my family and no one saw or heard anything. I bought my card May 31 and yet I can't enjoy playing using my new card because it's not here! Contacted UPS and been told that I have to speak with EVGA. Contacted EVGA and been told that they will file a lose package tracer which will take another 7-10 business days! Is it my fault considering that I went to buy from a local store to avoid shipping nightmares!? Is it UPS fault for leaving an expensive package at the front door!? Or is it EVGA fault at the first place for not insuring that the product they provided was well tested!? I don't regret the customer service I had from EVGA. I never and won't have better ever. Regards, Unhappy customer

If the one you got was really defective, why wouldn't you just carry it right back where you got it and hand them that one and let them hand you another one? A simple exchange was all that was necessary. Let the retailer send it back and deal with the defective product and this problem would have been resolved in the same day.

A simple exchange was all that was necessary. Let the retailer send it back and deal with the defective product and this problem would have been resolved in the same day. For two reasons:- Reason one - The return policy was only for 7 days after that they will take the product from me and send it back to EVGA and not provide me with another one. I didn't think it was defective until for some reason it completely stopped working but it was too late to return. Reason two - I saw a big sticker inside my graphic card box saying "PLEASE NOTE If your product is not working properly DO NOT RETURN TO THE STORE EVGA OFFERS DIRECT CUSTOMER SERVICE"

That clarifies things. The way I understood your OP, was that you brought it home and it didn't work. Most places here have a 14 day return policy on electronics so if you're outside of that, then yes it makes sense. You may want to check your other components though... It's very rare to see a defective card straight out of the box. Does it happen? Sure. But it's certainly not very common, specially from EVGA.

My question was and is: Did you leave any instructions to UPS for delivery?

Return policies are a suggestion, not law. I've returned things years after date of purchase in used condition. Most places gladly accept them because the stores I shop at aren't crap, and the ones that do have an issue accepting my returns get quite a persuading. You got to know how to talk to people. As far as the EVGA warning...unless they are paying for you to ship the item, return it to the store for free. And remember kids, ALWAYS SAVE THE BOX.

And you might want to reconsider purchasing insurance when shipping direct..... both ways if needed.

How about if it requires a sig they won't just leave it on your doorstep. Something is not adding up unless EVGA changed the sig requirement on UPS shipping or the driver ignored the signature requirement instructions. The extra attitude makes your swiss cheese story even less believable

I have had many different courier companies leave packages on my doorstep even when instructed that the delivery required a signature. Had 780i left out in the rain, box of hard drives left under my BBQ, etc. etc. Some drivers do not give a F@#k, especially on a Friday. My friend recently had a package delivered from Canada Post, and they left a thousand rounds of ammunition, along with a SKS right on her doorstep even though a signature was required, and the crate was clearly marked with what the contents of the crate carried. These things do happen.

Yeah i've had nothing but bad luck with UPS myself and it is quite common for them to just leave stuff at your door and drive away. I like USPS cause they wont do that, if they cant deliver something expensive they will usually leave me a notice to come pick it up. FedEX is ok too but seems like most places wont use them.

I wish they would leave my stuff at the door....I have to have any delivery requiring a sig to be delivered to a retired family member because if i walk away from the door on delivery day to hit the head i find a notice on the door. Too many times I have had to go to the UPS warehouse to get my packages because for one reason or the other i missed the delivery guy. I must be blessed with good drivers in this area even if it can be an inconvenience at times.

-Durgham I do apologize about this issue and I can confirm that the UPS tracer was started yesterday 6/29/2012. We can follow up with them on Monday to see if by chance there is any update. I will also forwarded this up to one of the supervisors to see how they can further assist. Once again I do apologize and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me directly at josephc@evga.com.
