Beast of a card, and at a 525~ usd/euro price point it's even better. My only dilemma since I game at 2560x1440 is whether or not to grab 2 of these as soon as they become availible or wait for the 4Gb editions to come out in 2~ months(guess).

if dealers sell them at $550 shipped, then thats ONE hell of a deal for a 680.

I remember MSI stating at some point that when the Lightning card comes out they will EOL the reference 680, bring the Twin Frozr III at it's price point and have the Lighthing about 30$ more than the TFIII. The 4Gb one will be more significantly expensive probably.

Lets see how much dealers price the 680 Lightning...MSIAlex said it will be anywhere from $550 to $600 depending on the dealer....if it really is $550, then wow, thats an amazing feature set for only $50 over reference

By the way guys, over voltage control via Afterburner has just been confirmed by an MSI rep on the tech power up forums. The Lightning AND 670 PE editions will both be able to do this with an upcoming release of Afterburner that is being worked on as we speak. I had signed on and was camping a Classified today, but with this news there is NO WAY I want to spend an extra 100 bucks per card and have to work with EVbot compared to using AB to over volt my cards. The 580 Lightning holds almost all the world records, so this release is looking better and better!

ARG! I also had my mind made up on a couple Classifieds but why the hell would I spend the extra money if I can use AB to over volt my Lightnings. I don't think that I will be getting them now. It's just not logical in any way. I'm bummed and excited at the same time. I wanted to order my Classy today but knowing I will save money, not have to work around this assinine "1 per household" rule...makes me VERY VERY happy. Also, thanks to the guys in the Classy thread that brought us the initial news, thank you!

Guys, The Lightning appears to be up at Amazon, but out of stock. Holy crap this is awesome! It's at $609.99 for the 2GB version. http://www.amazon.com/MSI...ords=msi+680+lightning I'm debating on whether or not to wait for the 4GB version as I run a surround setup. I most likely do NOT need the extra Vram right now....so I can't decide to order or wait!

Okay, the only problem is getting water blocks for the Lightning. I see the 580 Lightning had only one company making blocks for it: Bitspower from overseas and it is 175 bucks! Ouch. Color me officially dumbfounded and confused. No idea what I will do.

Yea it will come with one of the next AB updates... I am so jelly that I'm not living in the US, I would grab 2 of these off Amazon instantly they would become availible. Both this and the 670 PE cards look very solid, and if they get the software voltage through AB right, these cards will be definite winners.

Best deal in the house right now will be the 1.3V capable 670 PE's from MSI. Those cards should scream!

Also, thanks to the guys in the Classy thread that brought us the initial news, thank you! The lightning card is looking very promising so far with excellent cooling, software voltage control, and the GPUs appear to be binned well since the Guru3d review sample is able to run 1300 MHz on stock voltage. I like the specs of both this card and the Galaxy SOC which also has a beefed up cooling solution and users are reporting 1320+ MHz OC with this card on stock voltage. The SOC is reported to have some level of voltage control as well but I am not sure anyone has been able to make that work yet. I have not seen enough solid information yet for the Classified to get a good feel for the kind of binning that is being done. Ideally the cards will be binned to run at least 1300 MHz on stock voltage. However, I also thought the FTW might have had some decent binning due to the higher price but my card is maxing out around 1228 MHz. Based on that, I am not entirely convinced that the GPU binning is going to be much better for the Classified since the base/boost frequencies are set only slightly higher than the FTW.

My only concern is finding blocks (full cover) for the Lightning. These cards really deserve water imho...not sure what I am going to do.

There appear to be 26 in stock and there is no two item quantity limit set with this card which is nice.

Wow, I just ordered one >.<! This is the most I have ever spent on a video card! Thanks for the heads up. I hesitated for a moment, but I have wanted this card since the 680 was announced and for the last month I have been eating peanut butter sandwiches for lunch and ramen noodles for dinner to save for this beast.

The card is nice and all, but I lost interest in the current gtx6xx line after Nvidia announced the gk110. I have a feeling we wont have to wait long for the consumer card. Besides, I have 3x 3gb GTX580, so I can afford to wait.

Without derailing my own thread too far, regarding the next Kepler cards...I am not sure where you are getting your info, but most sources suspect it will not be until next year. Nvidia is in the "cat bird" seat. Until AMD responds with something faster, they have no reason not to milk GK104 for all it's worth. Now, if we see an 8xxx launch from AMD in September (which is highly unlikely) expect Nvidia to respond. Anyhow, this card looks amazing. There is a thread over at OC.net and it looks like around 1300 is pretty average for this card...which is AWESOME. After unwinder releases the next Afterburner with voltage tuning, expect to see this card scream.

Hey Jonny_Utah I am supermi from OC.net :) I just have to say I agree on the GK110 , we are WAY to early to worry about it LOL and I am changing out one of my cards so I will have some updated info on their OC ability on both threads by Friday (sat) latest ;) Johnny_Utah Jediexpress The card is nice and all, but I lost interest in the current gtx6xx line after Nvidia announced the gk110.
