560 Ti Problems
Tuesday, June 12, 2012 5:27 AM

Hi i downloaded EVGA Precision X and it seems i cant adjust the fan it is just in 75% fan speed. I want to adjust it because my card is hitting 99-100C just in IDLE MODE its heating right now! Also i sometimes get crashes (Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered - NVIDIA Windows Kernel mode drive version 280.26 stop responding and successfully recovered.) Any idea how to fix this? Is this problem with the driver itself? Inno3d 560-ti i5 2500-k 8gb ram 1tb seagate gigabyte mobo

Yeah, 99 isn't a good idle temp for your card. I'd personally try and install the 296.10 drivers. Those have been pretty solid, according to most people. See if that fixes your heating problems. If not, then try and upgrade to to the latest 301.42 drivers.

Even under heavy load, you wouldn't want to see temps like that. How is the airflow in your case? What PSU are you using?

well airflow is okay. sometimes it hits 50C in idle and sometimes at 100C i dont know this PC is very moody lol. No custom profile? Whats that? Anyway i set it at max 75% seems working a bit. Anyway i want to learn that profile thing you are talking to

To get the fan to 100% go here http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1034790 and download the matching bios for your card That might help but you might also need to find whats causing the heat issue as well, as the card should clock down at idle and cool right off (unless your folding of course)

You can get the drivers from the nvidia site. Just check look for Beta and legacy drivers, enter your info, and test out the WHQL drivers.

Anyway i want to learn that profile thing you are talking to If you're running 2 monitors off your GPU, then the clocks won't throttle down. In any case though, 100c is no good. What is the ambient temp of the room your PC is in? To set up a custom fan profile, go into the property settings of PrecX. It's up by the "minimize/close" buttons. Looks like a pair of gears. Open the "fan" tab. In there you will see automatic fan control properties. Put a check in the box "Enable siftware auto fan control". A grid will appear with temps and fan speeds. The square white boxes in the grid are moveable, meaning you can move 1 to say 30% fan speed at 30c. Then say the next 1 at 40% at 40c, etc...Then monitor temps that way a bit, keeping an eye on your GPU temp, and you can always tweak the fan curve as fits your needs.

Just an update the 296.10 driver still got me more heat. I even opened the side case of my PC and open up the Aircon in the room so it will be colder. Any ideas? Im getting nuts already, should i take back this card to the retailer?

If not, then maybe it's time to submit a support ticket to the mfgr's tech support. See if they can assist you. In the end, they may recommend RMA'ing it.

do you think its hardware malfunction? Yes i am still inside the retailers warranty but it will not be easy. I think ill wait for a month or so. That's 30 days and for that time 30 days without a life lol. :P and whats RMA? Do you think the PSU causes up these heat? I got 600W PSU

hey in EVGA Precision X I tried to increase the GPU Clock to 1064 Mhz and the memory clock to 2004 mhz it reads in the meter above GPU 50 mhz Voltage 950MV the heat drops to 41C. Its a good news but i didn't know whats the consequences i might face doing this. Any idea on this one? Please need help :(

RMA is when the manufacturer agree's there's a problem and allows you to send the card back to fix or replace it. What kind of PSU is it? Make and model?

Please need help :( When the core clock reads 50 mhz and the voltage is at 950mv, that's the throttled down clock speed and voltage setting. When you put a load on the GPU, the clock speed will increase to what you have it set to and the voltage will go to the default load voltage unless you have it set in Precision or similar to be different.

So its working for me after I do it (Put GPU Clock at 1000 mhz for the second time it says kernel driver has stopped responding and has recovered) i unchecked the auto beside the fan speed then set it at 75% and when it reaches to something like 50C I checked the auto button again and click apply the GPU clock will be back to normal again (822 mhz on GPU Clock same clock before i put it at 1000mhz) So is what im doing good or not? Right now its 42C, so my conclusion is whenever i reset my PC it turns back and resets everything it brings back to 90C+ again.

Pss I remember when I used fans, I get 36c full load on my 580. But on topic it seems like to me that something is up with the bios of the card if it will stick at 90c before you reset it. It is odd how it will go back to completely normal temps. I would try re-flashing the bios if you feel ok with that and if you are not I would just RMA it rather than deal with the trouble of figuring it out.

If you're already having issues with temperatures, why are you increasing the clock speed on the GPU which is only going to increase the temps? If you're getting temps upwards of 100C at idle, either the GPU is defective in some manner or, your case airflow is horrible.

Hi I got the same problem before with my EVGA560 TI it hits 95 to 98 deg. So here area some things i did. 1. Check your motherboard bios maybe there's an update. (read the update please) 2. Remove the old driver completely. Restart and install new driver. 3. Download EVGA precision X or MSI afterburner and use it to adjust clock speed and fan speed. 4. Also, The GPU has 3 stages. The Video card adjust the clock according to application(s). a. 50mhz (browsing) b. 405mhz (2D applications) c. 822mhz (3d applications) 5. Lastly, try removing the VC and reset the Motherboard status to deafult settings. (Hit F2 during startup to open bios). Hope this helps. please do tell us the results so we can help you.

Dude i dont know instead of soring high it also helps to keep the degrees cooler since it reads 48-50C while playing a game (EVE Online specifically). Well returning it is my last choice since returning the product to the retailer will lost me days without my videocard i think it needs to be replace 2 or more weeks (Depends on stock availability) so i need to find out ways if i don't have then i've got to do that. Any more ideas on my situation, sounds weird eh?

yeah but it works fine and it lows down temperature i hope it doesn't affect my VC after all. Well after I increase the GPU clock ill click the default then it will be back as it was at 800mhz then it will never go back to high Celsius like 85C-100C again and it slowly cool down at 40-50C but before slowing down the Kernel Driver error will pop up (The thing that goes black then a pop up will say it has recovered from error). Well badly i don't have someone i know that i can test out my CPU and uh it seems i can't remove my self my videocard ( i dont know why maybe i don't know how to remove it lol). Well i don't want to force pull it as it may destroy the chip. Do you experience this situation before?

If you look at the top/ center of the GPU, but back on the the pcie slot, you'll see this lever. Push it down to release the GPU from the slot. As you hold this lever down, gently pull the GPU out of the slot.
