is it too high temp(around 80c while playing Diablo3) for my new gtx 560ti ? Thursday, June 07, 2012 8:39 PM (permalink)
I am not sure, but it seems that my new gtx560ti has some problem with its cooler.
Idle temp is around 60c, and the temp I can see while plyaing diablo3 is more than 80c.
I would like to know if it is normal or it has some problem, so that I could return and getting new one.
Thanks.

What are you specs for your computer? I noticed that just moving my card to a new build (with a great case environment) significantly dropped the idle and load temps by a pretty large number. To an even further extent, having my hard drive fail and causing me to move over to a new drive and windows 7 environment dropped my temps even more (cpu as well). Although I can't see that having a idle temp around 60c is "normal"... I do have to wonder what environment the card is in myself.

      My spec is
      E5300 2.6gh
      Ram ddr2 6gb
      Power OCZ 700W

                                  Image of my desktop

I just found even it was over 95c while playing D3.
Please give me any solution, otherwise I think I have to return it.

560 ti is a tough card, it releases air into the case rather than exhausts it out of the case. If your air flow isnt that great you can always try setting up a custom fan profile using EVGA precision X. That should really help temperatures (I would think).

The 'default' fan config isnt that great on these cards. On default my 580's get up too 75 degrees and the fans only shoot up too 50-55%. I have mine going up 1% for every degree the card climbs.

I set fan config working as constant 100% speed by using EVGA precision x, but it still didn work. Load temp was always over 85c, and sometimes over 90.

Yikes. If your case does not have a decent amount of fans, those are not the cards too get sadly. They are great as budget cards and perform quite well; but not having External Exhaust really hurts consumers who really don't have adequate airflow in the GPU area.

Not sure what you paid for your 560Ti, but this card is superior in performance and cooling. It has a vapor chamber for the GPU, and the fan exhausts the air out the back of the case rather than keeping your case heated up and recycling the hot air.

It would be wise too invest in possibly a new case, or some new case fans though. Heat greatly deteriorates the life of electronic components.

Turn on V-Sync for diablo should fix things.

Unless he uses adaptive V-sync, no that will not help. V-sync actually makes your card work harder from what I understand.

You can always try too use precisions 'targeted frame rate' and set it too 30 or so. That will cause the GPU load too decrease when it is not needed to run at 100%

I was having the same issue; getting high temps etc. I put V-sync on in game Diablo 3 and my heat went back to normal. Try it doesn't hurt.

I spent about $250 to buy gtx560ti from EVGA website

Anyway, thanks for your great advice and I will be considering getting new case with external exhaust or buying new graphic card with better cooling system.
Btw, what about just make my case fully open and turning on a fan right next to the case to make it cooler?

This works sometimes, I used that method for a while just make sure you have it direct to the card and its a small fan so it focus the air on the card.

That will work for the time being but i wouldnt do it forever. All your pretty much doing is turning you graphics card into a dust trap which wont help temps either unless you clean it out every few days. You best bet is to find a new case, you really need a gaming case when you start putting good components in it. Having a good airflow in a case makes a hell of a difference.

This is a sure-fire way too make sure it isnt the card that is at fault. Most if not all EVGA rep's will tell you to take the side panel off and put a box fan right next too it and turn it on med-high while running the card.

If you want to go this route, that will be more than fine for a short term solution, as the above poster said though that will cause massive dust too get inside your PC.

After setting up in Precision x, Now I only see the load temp around 70c while playing Diablo3. But I will buy new case that has more than 2 or 3 fans to make the life of my graphic easier! :)

You guys said that card doesn't exhaust out the back. I have a 560 TI and it exhausts out the back...

My wording was incorrect. There are cards that are purely External Exhaust cards (basically all reference cards 570 and beyond), and there are cards who are semi-external exhaust and semi-internal exhaust.

The 560 Ti cooler (also used in the 570 HD model) exhausts half of the air out the back and half into the case. The fan just blows upwards and expels air out both sides of the card. Hence unless you have a decent flow of air in that area of your PC the card will keep recycling the hot air it exhausts.

I was beginning to to think i return this card and buy a different one. Just by testing it with MSI kombustor the temp. skyrocketed to 93deg.C. I guess there's always a drawback for great cards.
BTW, i'm using coolermaster 431 plus case with all fan slots occupied and still temp still reaches 90deg. +.=(
