670 4GB Benchmarks @ 7680x1600 (FPS, VRAM, POWER) Wednesday, May 30, 2012 6:56 PM (permalink)
[code]This thread is dedicated to the people who have 7680x1600 displays (or around that mark) who would like to see some benchmarks.
Shot of the SR-2 Test system empty (too lazy and busy to bring out my SLR to take the pic)
And yes I know... cable management.... but I'll do more work on that later...

Standing the cards out for some pics before I test them out..

Starting to test the first card. Will do these one by one to make sure they are solid and then put them all in.

Will be posting benchmarks / Power Usage / VRAM usage or anything else people deem necessary.

Questions, Do people mind if I test with 302.59 beta or do we want the WHQL drivers?

Also, for accurate memory testing... do we want Areo turned on or off. I know it consumes a bit of vram (and I usually leave it on). I can turn it off if you want the value of the bare minimum vram used?

i can't wait to see the benches... how many cards are you using? (please say 2!)... can i suggest WHQL drivers with Aero on? I know i personally never bother turning it off

looking forward to this as it could change my purchase decision (do have 2 on order, but have no idea when i'll get em)

I suggest Aero turned off. and any Driver you want. Only WHQL drives count in the "Benching collection" data on 3DMark btw...

I'll probably run WHQL with Aero off. With Aero on add another ~130MB or so VRAM (from what I've personally seen).

                I'll be running 4-way SLI.

Will you be using them on your SR-2, with PCIe 2.0?  Hopefully it won't be too disenchanting since there aren't many folks with dual nF200's on their boards.
How CPU watts relate to degrees? - How can overclocking affect CPU lifespan? - TEC/Peltier definitions, formulas and temperature estimations

For Intel processors, 0.123 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].  This includes around 30% overhead, so it isn't minimum for operation.  TDP is not actual per CPU, it is a range for multiple processors to qualify for the same OEM cooler and power rating, and allows Intel to debut future processors in the same TDP.

                          I'm jealous!

I think he bought it directly from eVGA. I did get the email notification from eVGA about the availability, so he must have received it too and snagged 4 of em. Limit is 4 cards per customer.

Ahh right, I was thinking of the 680's which had a dumb limit of 1, last I checked lol.

I'll surely get one of these 4GB 670's, once I make sure they don't have issues like the other 670's had on release lol.

When you get the cards can you post some VRAM usage numbers for some newer games?

I got the cards directly from EVGA and got very lucky.
Actually VRAM is one of my top priorities for metrics that I'm capturing. I'll be sure to include them.

                                  Whats up Clayton006,
You lucky bastard, you must have been quick when the 4gb SC versions popped up a couple days ago. I went to the link, but too late. You must have took them from me, lol. I'm setting up 670 Quad SLI also for "Nvidia 3D Surround" 5760x1080 in 3D. My monitors have been here and i couldnt wait any longer so i got the 2gb version. I get the cards in tomorrow and we will see. If benchmarks look good I will use the step-up program to go to the 4gb versions whenever the hell they are available.

The only thing is I saw the  Palit 680 4gb benchmarks on 5760x1080 and the extra vram did not help. I read it was due to the limitations of the 256-bit memory interface that was holding the 4gb vram back.  But who knows.

What mobo are you using and your other specs? I just picked up the Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3.

I know you are going to be busy with all that goodness you got there,  but when you get some time if you could benchmark some 5760x1080 runs also so I could compare them to mine. Thanks.

BTW Thats one badass rig you got there!

Thanks. If I get time soon I'll add the 5760x1080 resolution to the mix. From what I read over at hardOCP, you aren't going to see much of a benefit from extra vram at that resolution save for Skyrim and maybe BF3 a little. Seemed like the cards with 2GB performed like a champ at that resolution.

I was under the impression you were going for the 4gb 680s!
This thread needs pics of that beast you call computer running quad SLI.   IMHO

Has quad SLI now been enabled for the 670 series?
I know at one point NVIDIA did not provide support for quad SLI on the 670 series of cards.

Linus has said it on this 3 way SLI 670 video. (Linked to time so you won't have to skip through the video trying to find it.)

Yeah I posted to a few other threads about nvidia fixing/enabling it as of the latest WHQL drivers.
Yeah I was back and forth on the 680 4GB vs 670 4GB. Ultimately it came down to what I could purchase sooner. I'll see if I can take a picture of the PC empty (cause I don't have the cards yet). Just a warning, cable management wasn't the greatest concern right now but that will be changed later.

Very interested in these benches. I have 3 670 FTW's arriving today for 5760x1080. Rigs won't be identical obviously, but maybe you and I could organize some Tri-SLI 2GB benches vs your Tri-SLI 4GB benches and finally get some answers on this 2GB vs 4GB thing.

I'll definitely be following this thread!
