Wednesday, May 30, 2012 10:51 AM (permalink) A lot of the 670 appear to be coming in the plastic instead of the foam. But it shouldn't matter with as much packaging as they put in around the box.

EVGA cards dont even come in anti static bag anymore? every card I have ever owned has done that but looking at some gtx670 unboxing videos they dont.

We use both sets of packing, they are both effective. If one is not working just give our 24/7 tech support a call so we can setup an RMA (888)-881-3842

I hate the cheap plastic clamshell,.... & I love the thick foam shippers.

yeah I hate that cheap plastic crap. high end video cards should certainly come with soft foam.

and newegg has been horrible for a while. they just throw stuff in a box without any concern for whats in there. I have called and complained several times but they probably never pass that complaint on.

I think its just the luck of the draw. I bought a 570 from microcenter and it came in the foam, card was a dud and returned it to there store the same day and got a 570 in the plastic. Ended up returning that one like 5 days later for a 580 and that came in the foam. Seems like they just package it in whatever is available at the moment.

mine that I ordered from newegg just arrived. it too was in that plastic but at least the box itself was packaged okay. it literally came from one end of the country before it got to me so I was worried. I am too tired to see if everything works so it will be late tonight or tomorrow before I install it.

With the new Global Warranty you RMA it to the closest regional location - for you EU.

Thursday, May 31, 2012 3:55 PM (permalink) I just received mine, ordered from Newegg Canada, on 23rd, first tracking update was Left via LOS ANGELES - LAX depot so I'm guessing warehouse closest to there. Mine arrived with the black foam looking through the little window in the box. Hope it works fine when I install it this weekend.

mine is working great so far except for a weird issue with STALKER Clear Sky. performance was horrible and then my pc blue screened during the game. after reboot that game is performing normally now so maybe it was just some conflict after installing Precision. somebody else reported some issues with that game too so it might just be the 301.42 drivers also to blame.

anyway all the other games and apps I have tried are fine and I can even oc my card with no issues so it looks to be just Clear Sky.

i got mines in a plastic package also but honestly no issues so far all is running good 3mark 11,crysis 2, bf3 etc...no artifact issues or anything like i heard other people were having so im very pleased

I just bought 2 GTX 670 FTW's from Newegg. One came in foam and the other plastic clamshell.

Both have been working flawlessly.

However I really do dislike the plastic clamshell packaging. I have cut my fingers of the edges many times and once open these boxes are impossible to close properly. However I buy the cards to put in the computer so really spend little time with the boxes....

I haven't received a card in plastic since my EVGA 7950GX2 way back... my EVGA GTX 280's came in foam too. I prefer the foam packaging.

My cat would be very disappointed if the card arrives in the plastic clam shell. You don't want to disappoint my cat.

Joking aside, I prefer the foam. The plastic is fine but it strikes me that it might protect better when the package is dropped a certain way versus another. In any case, the box should have some extra protection too, so it might not matter anyway.
