Official Petition for GTX 670 FTW Backplate from EVGA!! Friday, May 25, 2012 11:43 AM (permalink)

I just ordered three 670 FTW's from Newegg yesterday. I know EVGA is going to sell a lot of FTW models now that they've taken the SC model off the market and bumped the FTW down to the SC price slot. In addition to them selling a lot of FTW models, they also have a back plate already made for the GTX 680. I don't know for certain what all has to go into product design, but I can't imagine it would be very difficult for EVGA to put GTX 670 FTW graphics on the 680 back plate they already have and give it a new SKU and sell it to us 670 FTW owners.

I've seen a couple threads lately asking about the back plates for these, and I thought maybe if we all gave EVGA some words of encouragement and some confidence that they would sell some of these then we'd see these available for purchase. Come on you 670 FTW owners. Let your voice be heard!

I can feel your pain.
Im also waiting that I can order 670 FTW, and surely would like to order 670 FTW -backplate rather than GTX680.
Lets hope that they hear our voice :)

When contacted by me, EVGA customer support could not tell me when or if they will make a dedicated backplate for the 670 FTW.

Maybe if enough people ask they will at least offer 680 backplates sans the 680 logo. Hey an all black logo free backplate works for me.

The asus gtx 670 has a custom pcb. + Asus is a good company. Not to mention the gtx 670 has a backplate and can outperform a gtx 680 at dtock (overclock) settings

Im looking at getting the asus 670, any reason why you guys are not?

Of all the brands of products I have owned I have only had to RMA from 2 manufacturers.

Asus and MSI.

RMAing from Asus was a nightmare I do not wish on anyone. Maybe they have gotten better, but I do not want to chance it.

Mostly as proud 670 FTW owners; we would like to use a backplate that represents the product we paid for!
YES, I know the 680 BP fits the 670 FTW.

AND

EVGA could easily omit the 680 logo or creat the 670 FTW logo.

We are attempting to raise EVGA's awareness to our desire to purchase more of their product.

Every one was rma'd, lolz **** guy, how many we talking here?

I have had gpus from evga starting with the 9800GTX, 9800GX2(2), GTX 260 and 280(2), GTS 250, GTX 560, GTX 560 Ti Classy, GTX 580, GTX 580 Classy and on. NOT 1 GPU was rma'd.

Back on topic, if evga doesn't make 670 FTW back plates I may buy a 680 bp and remove the 680 branding. I would rather just buy a 670 bp though.

If I was a casual I wouldn't mind installing a 680 backplate on my 670's. The fact that I'm incredibly anal about the appearance of my PC's means that installing a backplate that says 680 on 670's is not an option for me. Sorry. I will go no backplate before I put one on that doesn't even represent the correct model.

K, I'm gonna be the first person to sound stupid here, but what is a backplate ?
I just ordered 670 FTW to piece new desktop (I owned gaming laptops for last 7 years), and I would like to know what is the benefit of adding backplate to the 670 ftw.

It's basically a metal shield that you screw onto the back of your card. Benefits include lower temps (by about 3c on average), protection for the PCB components, and general aesthetic value.
