Velociraptor Unrecognized

I installed a Velociraptor as the main drive connected to the SATA 3 port. The drive works well, no issues. But in the BIOS as it loads it says the Harddrive is unrecognized.
In BIOS I have always had the drives set to IDE enabled. I am now curious if I enable AHCI would I see any performance difference.
I know there is an issue with the registry and changing from one to the other.
Has anyone altered the registry with success and not have to do a clean install?

Sure, switching to AHCI mode after install is commonly done. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 [edit] Sorry, don't know if this applies to the SATA 3 ports. Z.

sata3 is enabled in bios ? normaly you have post from the marvel chip and this shows disk in port used
E762 W3520@4.2 E679 2600k E760 X980 E761 I920 E770 I950 and SR2's and SRX's X79 classified and RIVE, xtreme11 and many classified a panel from EVGA no just one sample and other DFI giga etc
