Easy way to remove tubing from barbs?

So I just messed around with my XSPC Rasa 750 water cooling kit today, and used half of my tubing for a little test run outside of my case. Everything checked out great! Except now I'm trying to remove the tubing from the fittings and I managed to remove the one from my radiator first, but only after almost breaking my arms, cuz I had to use ALL my strength to pry them apart and when I did, I damn near flew to the other side of the room! Please tell me an easier way to do this! These fittings are so tight (good thing though, since it has to stop leaks right?)

Cut a slit and remove and them trim the tubing. Can't heat them as it will weaken the tubing but you can let the loop get warm from using the computer and that might help instead of taking them off cold.

yeah, I was wondering about the same thing LOL! this 7/16'' tubing on 1/2'' barbs will be a royal PITA to remove hehe ... i'm not so sure if a simple twist & pull will do the trick ... keep us posted on how it goes ... I'm pretty sure I will destroy a few zip ties and cut the tubing when I will be doing it myself in a few days ...

wiggle the tubing from side to side until you see it move then you should be fine.if you try to pull the tubing straight off you will be there forever, what works for me is wiggle it from side you will see it move then go for it,if that doesnt work run some hot water over the tubs.

This is the reason I tell people to use 1/2 inch tubing on 1/2 inch barbs. Twisting will help, you can also insert a slotted screw driver at the base of the barb, dont pry but twist, and that can help. Unfortunately, more oten than not, I have found you end up cutting the hose off to remove it. People like this method because it is cheap.... but IMHO, its not worth the pain in the hind quarter it gives you.

Only use tubing that is the right size. And bend back and forth gripping close to the barb. It will pull it self off. Twisting does not work for me. I just end up untwisting the barb from the block.

I'd assume it'd slide off easily but won't stop leaks nearly as well.

Might be a good time to replace that foggy smoked clear tubing from XSPC with something else ... will 1/2'' ID x 3/4'' OD Primoflex tubing sit well on 1/2'' barbs? could order 10ft of UV red or blue and just swap it. would make it easier to cut apart the old tubing instead of fighting with it hehe. I assume the 3/4'' Primochill zip ties (reusable plastic hose clamps) I have, will fit it just right (they are slightly loose on stock 7/16'' XSPC tubing)

Only reason I am running clamps is because I was bored one night and saw them and said "I want those". In case you are wondering they are, they are Lamptron Clamps if you look in my Mods Rigs.

I find that it's easier to remove the tubing by force after a few shots of high caffeine content energy drinks In reality though, it's not like I'll be removing the tubing often after I've built the darn thing. I did try the twist pull and wiggle methods, they worked a lot better In a way, I feel a bit safer with such a tight fit since a leak would be less likely.

hehe, good to know 1/2'' ID sits just right, besides 1/2'' should provide a slightly better flow (less restrictive) over 7/16'', no? I am almost ready to order UV blue, 10ft retail pack should do the trick probably I will have not much of mercy for the old tubing since it's poor anyways ...

direraptor, so you went with 7/16'' tubing again, just uv red color? I just ordered that Primoflex 1/2'' ID x 3/4'' OD UV Blue tubing and took a UV cold cathode kit along with it from frozencpu ... also having some plans on painting the case inside flat black ... wondering how that part turns out ... all of this while waiting for mobo step up to come around (haven't been approved yet) ...

Yeah... same one for now. I figured out a better way to remove the tubing (brute strength) But problem is I'm so out of shape that I run out of breath by the time I remove the second one xD I just bought a Logisys LED sunlight stick from Fry's for like $6 after discounts, and it seems to work pretty well. My UV Red tube really lights up like a chandelier when the UV stick is on near it
