This morning, I installed a replacement GTX 470 that I received through RMA after my previous died in a shower of artifacts. After a trouble free day, I am experiencing a ton of issues now that it is night.As a note, BOINC projects, including CUDA, run in the background when my system goes idle.
I was elsewhere in the room when suddenly I heard my system reboot. Instead of rebooting normally, it let out a single long beep and proceeded no further to my knowledge as there was no display. After turning off the system for a moment, I was able to get the system to successfully boot again with no problems.After finding no hints as to what such a beep would mean, I again let the computer go idle. Shortly after, the display went into standby mode way sooner than what it was set to. I attempted to wake the system, but could not. I reset the system and again got the long beep. This time i took the cover off and read the POST display. It read "32", which according to the manual is "reserved". Eventually I was able to get the system to boot once again. This time, since i noticed I had troubles when BOINC was running, I thought that maybe it was a temperature issue.
I set up Speccy and set BOINC to run tasks always. The temperature slowly climbed to 59C then suddenly the screen went dark, Shortly after, the system rebooted and sounded off the long beep. The CPU also was not showing any unusual temperatures during this test.
So, I get things booted again, turn off BOINC, and come here to ask for advice. This is my second attempt as guess what, the display suddenly went blank and the system rebooted and gave that error beep. This time, I have removed the replacement GPU and installed the spare pair of 9800 GT's I had been using awaiting the replacement. So far, no issues with these cards.
 
I am pretty certain this replacement card was a dud. But I am asking here anyway since I experienced a few things I did not with the last card. The reboots and the error code/beep is new. The last card would simply just turn off the display on me until I manually restarted the system, before finally just barely working and filled with artifacts.
Also, what does that long beep and error code mean?
 
System:
Motherboard: EVGA x58 SLI LE (also a RMA replacement. It has a few issues of its own, but still works mostly.)
PSU: Seasonic X750 Gold (only a few months old)
OS: Windows 7 HP x64
CPU: i7 930
 
Just as I finished this up, Windows has alerted me to a previous possible NVidia driver issue. I don't think a driver could case a POST error, but that may certainly cement it as a video card issue.

I don't know what the error code means, but I have had the long beep happen numerous times over the years way back to the days of the Pentium 3-4 and AMD athlons etc.
 
It has meant one of two things for me whenever it has happened.
One being a powersupply issue - not enough power to the PC(this hasn't happened in a long time).
And secondly no Videocard - this is usually the case.
I think your new replacement card needs an RMA.

I found a website that says this - but of course everyone goes through there own problems. Yours works fine with a different videocard which means 99% likely that its the videocard.
