EVGA GTX 690 LED Controller v1.0.0.6
Friday, May 11, 2012 10:36 AM
( permalink)
The EVGA LED Controller application for EVGA GeForce GTX 690 is available now! You can download it here. Please note that this utility is ONLY compatible with the EVGA GeForce GTX 690. Here is a brief overview on how it works. When I start the application I will see the below: The first drop down lets me select the card logo I want to adjust (for Quad systems) The second drop down lets me select various different options. IMPORTANT NOTE: Anything other than manual control REQUIRES EVGA Precision X to be running in the background! For FPS Monitoring make sure that you have FPS monitoring enabled in EVGA Precision X. Lets select GPU Utilization. When EVGA Precision X is also running in the background (or minimized to system tray) the LED on my EVGA GTX 690 will automatically adjust based on the GPU Utilization. In the below image I am running EVGA OC Scanner X to increase my GPU utilization to 59%, thus the illumination on my EVGA GTX 690 logo is set to 59%. When I close EVGA OC Scanner X, the LED turns off. If I were to run an application that utilizes 100% of my GPU, the LED will brighten. Lastly, the apply at startup will ensure that my custom LED settings will always apply on Windows boot!

That's pretty cool, wish there was something like this for hydro copper 680's.

In the future we should be able to design cards that can take advantage of this. Also one of the functions I want to add is a pulsing/breathing option, hope this can be added in an upcoming version.

I know many mice makers like SteelSeries and CoolerMaster have mastered the 16+ million colors over their mice LED. this could be awesome if you could tie it into different OC profiles. Assign different colors to your different saved OC profiles. Link it all up with the Android PrecisionX app and you will have something quite impressive for users.

Im Hit! OC profile-related color switching FTW! This....I wish it was possible to have it be a different color also, my machine has a red/black thing going on and the green is certainly going to clash lol. Very X-mas-ish now. Wow, listen to me complaining about the LED color on my 690......sheeesh I should probably go check myself.....sorry guys hah

Jacob, would completely disabling the LED give us more voltage headroom on the 690? What I mean is, we know there's a limit enforced (max power target %), but would the LED be eating into that same voltage and would turning it off have any effect on overclocking? Also, just as a note, when you use this app to change the LED settings and hit "Apply at startup," it will permanently keep those settings, even if you uninstall it. Just as an FYI.

Can this be implemented on any sort of EVGA Waterblock as in the case of a hydro copper for the 690, assuming it has a LED like the previous models?

This is really neat. Kinda fun to play with the light. Too bad that the plastic is green instead of white, with RGB LEDs ;) Perhaps for next time.

Another cool option would be a night rider effect. But I imagine the LED assembly would have to be redesigned for that to work. Zandaric

Jacob any chance this will be incorporated into the hydrocopper? And while you answering that if you have a vague idea of when the hydrocopper will be coming... Just a general in may or June would help... Really wanna get a block for my 690...

Jacob how come we never see any of this on other graphics cards? You know the cards 99% of your customers buy... It can't add that much cost to production.
