Seriously, is there any good software for ripping CDs??!!

I hate iTunes and WMP loves to freeze up half through ripping. I just want to turn my CD's into MP3's or WMA's so I can put them on my phone. Suggestions?

can't you just access the tracks directly (PCM wav files) and just compress them with anything? Or has something changed since I still used CDs? :P

Honestly, I don't know why you're having trouble with iTunes.. I used to rip my CD's with it all the time and it was all flawless and fast depending on the speed.

I use Easy CD-DA Extractor... Best Lossy Codec: http://www.poikosoft.com/ ^ $47 for one version So, going from the 15.x tree to the 16.x tree requires you to spend again. (so, when poiko releases version 17 to get version 17 I have to throw cash... but you get all these royalty codecs as well w00t!) ^-- options for error detection and it tells you if you get errors

Blizzie I use EAC for all of my CDs. http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ I have already tried it, took an hour to rip 4 songs with the fastest settings enabled so I uninstalled it. I dont want WAV files and dont want to spend extra time compressing them into a different format. I do not like iTunes and will never install it on my computer ever again. What I really want is a working version of Windows Media Player.

blacksapphire08 No, simply copying them will not work for audio CD's. http://www.poikosoft.com/ <-- try it, (30 day trial I think) (Also, it uses up to SSE4.1 which is cool)

Exact Audio Copy all the way. My more tech-savvy friends tell me the best way is to use EAC to rip into FLAC, and then convert using dpPowerAmp, but I can't really comment on the validity of that. voodoo do-er I just copy the files off the disk onto my hard drive but I use linux, not sure if that can be done in windows when ever I put a disk in it show losses wav files but I can save them as flac or mp3's dbPowerAmp is compatible with WINE.

For some reason I use winamp. I rip to flac, maybe that is why. Whatever is free or accessible is something I would use. I hope you're not using a lossy format, its 2012 for pete's sake.

I use dBpoweramp, you can rip cd's and do batch conversions with it. I've used it to convert the quality of approx 6000 mp3's and it worked flawlessly! It's not free, but it has a 21-day trial.

I dont want FLAC cause it takes up too much space and i'm fine with 192kbps MP3 audio. List of programs i've tried.... WMP - freezes up Exact Audio Copy - Super slow Free CD Ripper - garbage foobar2000 - looks nice but again SUPER slow (5hrs to rip a 45 min CD is unacceptable) Edit: messed with some drive settings in foobar and got it start ripping at a faster speed, but still not nearly as fast as say iTunes. Anybody have experience know how to force it to run at full speed?

Audiograbber? used to work for me in past, it can save them straight to WAV r MP3 if you have MP3 codec installed (I used something extra, but forgot it's name) ... haven't ripped a CD in a very long time ...
