Windows 7 Pro --- quick launch delay Sunday, April 29, 2012 4:19 AM (permalink)
Hi all,

I'm having an issue and need a bit of help.  I am running Win 7 Pro and have enabled the quick launch.  I curently have about 18 shortcuts on it with 6 displayed.  When I click the small double arrows to open up the expanded QL, it shows up white, with no icons, and there is a delay where as I can not cick start or anything on the taskbar.  After a varying amount of time, everything is back to normal.  Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Seems windows is trying to think about what to do.

Try opening up control panel, taskbar and start menu.
Under taskbar buttons, what do you have selected?

If it's "Always combine, hide labels" or "Combine when taskbar is full",
then select "Never combine" and see if the problem persists.

BTW, did the problem just start after a recent component install?

I noticed you have quite a few components drawing from that 750W PSU not to mention SLI graphics.

The other thing you could try is to reboot into BIOS and set the CPU back to default clock, just to see.

Alternatively if you want fast boot speeds you should buy a small SSD and only run the O/S off of that. Even with SATA 2 it will be really fast. I recommend a Corsair Force GT at least 90GB or higher.
Intel i7 3820 + Corsair H100, Corsair Vengeance LP Black 32GB (CML32GX3M4A1600C10), EVGA GTX 680, (GTX 580/GTX 670SC for folding) Corsair AX1200 + Sleeved Corsair Modular cabling, EVGA X79 SLI MB, Corsair Force GS 240GB SSD (system), WD 2TB Black (two)  for storage/backup, Acer 23.6 inch LCD, Windows 7 Ultimate, Corsair 600T White Special Edition PC chassis, Corsair M60 + K60, Corsair Vengeance 2000 Headset, Corsair Link.

R.I.P. JeffreyHam I'll keep folding for you and others in an effort to find a cure!
