GTX560FTW+ Rainbows? Friday, April 27, 2012 6:27 AM (permalink)
Hello!

I have two GTX560 FTW+ cards.  I was running them in SLI but I have lost my SLI bridge.
So since I lost the bridge I put one of the cards back into its box and have been just running one card.
(I plan on buying a bridge from the EVGA store later )

The card I am running seems to some times randomly corrupt the screen with a sort of rainbow pattern.
when this happens the PC completely freezes and I have to press the reset button on the front of my case.

But its random I can't seem to find a way to replicate the problem at will.
Its happend on the windows welcome screen once. its also happend while switching to full screen on a youtube video.
But sometimes it does not happen, before posting this post I watched a full screen youtube video with no problem.  It seems totally random.  I have tried the other card and these things do not happen.  I have tried the card on more than one PC and get same result.
also happens with a fresh windows install so I don't think it is a driver issue.

Should I just contact EVGA support and request a RMA?

Thanks for any help!
-CM

Its the drivers. Roll back to 295.73 or try the betas. 296.10 has that problem for many. Including myself. Nvidia is aware of the issue. I have not seen it again since using the betas.

Thanks for the tip, I will try installing the 301.24 driver and see if it helps any.  The only thing I don't understand is why does it occur with one 560 and not the other?

Some cards have the problem. Some do not. Some 560 users including Ti do not even have this problem.

You could also try reseating your card? I had weird screen issues with some video cards and found the problem to be that the card was not properly installed. Not having the SLI bridge connecting the two cards together could have shifted the way the card sits in the pci lane. It may very well be a driver issue though.

I have tried reseating it and diffrent PCI-E slots. I currently only have one of the cards installed since I figured I could not use SLI without the bridge?
Anyhow it occured in two diffrent machines but I am happy to report since I removed the old driver and installed the 301.24 driver I have not had it occur since.  But I don't want to jinx it and say its 100% fixed cuz it was rather random.
