[RANT] ripped off on ebay Thursday, April 26, 2012 11:46 AM (permalink)
I been taking a A+ class and we had to build a pc in it
the school did not have the $ for a nice after market cooling system, but we were allowed to buy are own
so I got a Freezer 7 PRO on ebay for 18$, the list stated that it had the amd mounts
well it only had lga775 mounts

I contacted the seller and I'm waiting the hear back from him
well I will not be able to install it on my last day of school.
most of the class got some fans but I was the only one that got a new heatsink for it and we wanted to see how it went

edit I hope the seller forgot to ship the mounts
I do not think the teacher would like me using zip ties

I bought a monitor off eBay before and he forgot to include the power cable, he was cool enough to ship it later.

I hope that is the case with me
but the seller said nothing about a lga775 mount
          only a am3 mount

You should get bonus marks for using zip ties, if zip-ties and duct tape can hold a fender on a smashed up NASCAR Sprint series car at 180mph, they can hold a heatsink on a CPU that doesn't move. Ingenuity should be rewarded!
Got some stuff in a plastic box that's makes my screen turn on when I push the button on the front, cool.

I think it's aliens, but I'll have to confirm with voodoo do-er on that.

ya I'm trying that with a old am2+ mobo I have
it's not simple with the lga775 mount in the way, with can not remove with out braking it
I could cut it off or bend it in place, but I do not want to do that till I hear back from the seller

it was abit tricky to get it to hold it's own wait at fist

It's not as bad as you think :P

+1 for zip ties.  making do and still getting good temps is legit.  McGuyver points FTW.

                  It was only $18
You actually got a cooler in the mail
brackets are cheap, though may be hard to find
you didnt get a box with a rock in it or a picture of a cooler.

Crap happens, I've received far worse/less from eBay with deadliens due, but things worked out one way or another.

Even if you were shipped nothing, it was only $18 and a lesson learned regarding ebay reliability.

I'm not knocking your struggle, but life happens, and it's how you deal with it that matters.  I could go into further detail but I'm sure you get what I'm getting at :P

good luck with your PC build in class,  back in the day you got a book that told you about PCs, not actual machines, and when you did actually get a machine, good luck getting to look under it's skirt :P

Well, you didn't exactly get ripped off. But you did receive the product not as described. So... You can go to their resolution center and report that it was not as described if he's not willing to make it right. eBay has been siding with the buyers a lot more than sellers when it comes to resolving an issue like that.

Meh, you paid $18 postage included, let the guy know he screwed up, see how he responds. If it's an honest mistake, let it go. It's $18, you got the cooler, he obviously wasn't trying to rip you off, he did send it. I doubt he made a killing on it lol.

If you paid $100, yeah, I could see getting ebay/paypal involved, but really, $18? See what the guy has to say, I don't think he was trying to rip you off, in fact I'm 100% sure he wasn't, otherwise you wouldn't have got the heatsink in the first place.

You can go to their resolution center and report that it was not as described if he's not willing to make it right. eBay has been siding with the buyers a lot more than sellers when it comes to resolving an issue like that.

will I have to send it back ?
I already cut the lga775 mount off

You could always shoot him a message asking for a partial refund since it was not in there. Maybe like 5 bucks.
