Sucks to hear about your monitor guys but yeah some of those bricks have been pretty bad and while they'll run our voltage fine they're not really supposed to. :/ Try a quick replacement one for ebay and hopefully that fixes it.

The risk reward for these is still pretty good but there are always bad monitors and DOA regardless of what you're buying the risk here is after the month window of most of these sellers you're SOL if something happens afterwards since shipping cost to send for repair are absurdly high. Good luck on your decision Dispy_y

Thanks for the link to the brick. The one I found earlier was $40, which was too high.

Hate to hear that bigbrag, especially considering you had three at one point >.< I know the powerbrick to mine runs pretty warm, but it's not just super hot or anything. Now you have me scared and wanting to replace it lol.

I bought an extra just in case, mine was from the OC batch so I didn't the kind of bricks that have the correct volts on them but say something like "US safe" on a sticker or something........but got the second one just in case.

Received my Catleap today. Lovin it so far. Colors on the monitor are great as well.

Had a hard time tying to remove the silver arc from the back though. I unscrewed the back panel, but couldn't pop the panel off completely, as if there were still screws or clips that I did not get to come loose. Any help would be appreciated. I was worried I might break it since it was getting me so frustrated haha

there are 4 screws holding on the arc, they are at the very top and bottom of the plastic panel.  120hz.net has a thread on tearing it apart if you need more detail.

Congrats! I love my Catleap! I did however have a heck of a time getting mine apart. The cables used inside mine wasn't like the one in the tutorials. They were like tiny IDE cables.... these things are hard to plug in with large fingers! :P

thanks guys. I'm definitely loving this monitor. once those 120hz tempest models are available, i'll most likely upgrade to that and sell this one off to a friend. Only negative thing i can think of to say about this monitor is the cheap stock stand lol

colors and picture quality look absolutely incredible compared to my old LG lcd monitor. I'm truly glad I made this purchase. Games are also soo much more enjoyable. I'm also happy my 580's have just enough vram haha

Woohoo, I'm pumped. So my new power brick did not fix the problem with my monitor which was a huge disappointment. I contacted greensum and he said I could send the monitor back but I would have to cover the costs. I contacted squaretrade and they said that my monitor was still covered under the manufactures warranty and I would need to contact them. I called squaretrade and told them that the manufacture would not cover the costs of repairing or replacing the monitor. They asked me to send them a sales receipt and then they would send me a pre-paid shipping label to send the monitor to them, and they would then refund me the purchase price once it is in their possession! I'm so thankful I'm not going to be out $300+ dollars.

I believe it was $42 off ebay at the time of purchase and it covers 2 years after the manufactures warranty.  At the time I purchased it everyone was saying the wouldn't cover the product, but I'm happy so far. I hope they fulfill their end of the deal. If they do, they will make a life long customer.

Just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone, hopefully from EVGA, has any information on why Nvidia's drivers now include a pixel clock limit to stop us from reaching 120 hz at 2560x1440? Is there something wrong with it, or are they just limiting themselves for no reason? Seems like a pretty good reason to switch to AMD. Anyone talk to Nvidia about this at all?

I posted this in the Hardware Forums, but no response. Figured it'd be answered here:

For those who have this monitor, how much do you benefit from the 120hz running at that resolution? It takes alot of gpu to run at 2560x1440 alone, but to pump out 120+ fps while gaming together?

I currently have a Samsung 1080p 120hz with a gtx690 and I do get over 120 fps (does fluctuate under) with everything on Ultra in BF3, but it really doesn't seem like it makes sense to have a high res 2560 x 1440 that has a refresh rate of 120 hz when more than likely you wont even hit those marks on demanding games like Skyrim (mods included) & BF3 (maxed settings); many of us have tri/quad sli setups and more than likely seldom hit high fps using a high res monitor.

I've been thinking of moving to a 2560x1440 soon, but I have bad memories from using the 30" Dell 2560x1600 I had purchased a few months back after using my 120hz monitor; I would experience horrible screen tearing and ghosting, and returned it.

Jus like goin from 1680x1050 to 2560x1440 will blow you away, 100hz will do the same. I only enable it when gaming, but if I forget and load into BF3 at 60hz its instantly noticed.

Not sure what "cable" is being mentioned in that video.  Even his written description of the issue I cannot tell as he makes no mention of exactly what cable he is talking about.  Also not sure if he is simply moving the cable itself or actually moving the adapter where its plugged in.

It looks as though the price went up quite a bit. Green-Sum which is where I bought mine is now selling them for $430, and I bought mine for $315 a little over a month and a half ago, ouch.

I'd love a Tempest if I knew I could get it to even just 100hz. I'll definitely be watching and waiting to see what type of luck people have with the OC models. I'd hate to pay a premium to get the same thing I currently have basically!

Sry i forgot scribby told me once the pre/sale starts it will take 3/6 weeks for shipping but you will get this if you do a pre order

                                                      Overlord Tempest X270OC
How much are these and will there be a pre-order bonus?
The Tempest X270OC is 439.99 + $25 for pixel perfect. The first 450 pre-orders will receive a pixel perfect Tempest for the base price of $439.99. That's basically your shipping cost if you live in the United States!
So it almost free shipping-----shipping should be $25.00/30.00 anyway

                                                        Cool, thanks!  I've been a die-hard high-refresh fan ever since before LCD's came out at 60Hz, sticking to a pair of my old Sony GDM-FW900 24" CRT's, enjoying 2048x1280 @ 90Hz, 2560x1600 @ 68Hz, and 1440x900 @ 120Hz (Stereo 3D) for many years now.  About time....   about time........

Sorry if this has already been answered....But I would like to know...for those with the overclock-able version of the monitor....is it actually safe to overclock it?  I'm just wondering why Asus/Samsung/Acer all have 120hz guaranteed monitors....whereas Catleaps are defaulted at 60hz, and you must "overclock" it to achieve higher hz....call me paranoid, but there must be a reason for this?  I figure its not within Catleap's spec to do this....I just want to make sure my monitor won't blow up

                                                          Thanks in advanced

My catleap arrived yesterday, I purchased it from green-sum
It was working good up until I turned it off and went to bed.
When I woke and tried to turn it on though its only lighting up black and staying that way.
I checked all the cables and tried plugging my old monitor into the computer and it worked fine.
This sucks,  I hope getting a replacement isnt to much of a hassle or cost to much

Is it most likely the power brick or DVI cord it came with?
It was working fine yesterday though, I don't understand.
