Curious about my step-up Saturday, April 14, 2012 11:46 AM (permalink)
I have entered into the step-up queue as of a few weeks ago and am currently sitting at around #522.  I have decided to step-up from both of my recently purchased gtx 570hd 2.5gb cards.  I am a little concerned though as I bought these two cards for nvidia 3d vision and I have 3 planar 3d vision displays that use a dual link dvi for connection.  The gtx 680 has this capability but i have noticed that it does require an adapter for one of the dvi displays to work if I go with a 2 way gtx 680 sli.  My question is that if i did step-up where would I get this adapter and also would the upgrade be worth it?  I get great FPS in my games with this setup but its only about 250 to upgrade to a slightly more efficient card with a massive amount of cores, near twice that of a single gtx 570. Is it truly worth this wait and hassle to step-up to a gtx 680 sli or is it just a minor step-up and all those cores and specs just for show?  Thanks.

Also if anyone has any surround experience with two gtx 680s I would appreciate settings and FPS your getting too thanks!
Games that I am concerned with mainly for future compatibility:  BF3(uses about 1.4gb of vram in surround), Crysis 2(High res: uses all my vram with settings maxed in surround 2.44gb or so) and a few older games that don't really impact much on surround settings.
