HELP Please, GPU will not start new work load on its own Monday, April 09, 2012 6:26 AM (permalink)
Hello all,

Need some help trouble shooting this. I have a GTX 580 Classified Ultra and a I7 2700K. I am Folding with the SMP client on 6 cores, and the GPU 3 client. Whenever the GPU client finishes a workload, it pulls a new workload, but will not start work. It just stays at 0 for up to 8 hours and the GPU usage stays at near 0%. If I close the program, and restart it, it will pick back up. This is a problem obviously if I want to let it run continously because I have to keep turning the program on and off. Is there any fix?

Also, I am using the V2 Tracker.

What drivers are you using?  I had a similar problem with my GTX460 and from posts here, I found out that it basically wound up being a problem with the 295 drivers.
Basically you can use the latest drivers, but you have to set your monitors to never go to sleep.
Personally since I didn't want to waste the power and I am too lazy to turn off and on my screens on my own, I just reverted back to the 285 drivers.

That might be the problem then. I recently reverted windows to an older flash and did not turn off the monitor sleep problem. Ill run it tonight without the monitors going to sleep and see if that fixes it!

If it does, Ill have to do some digging to see which version of drivers for the 580 will work.

It appears to be fixed in the 301.24 drivers.
          SMP: 4x AMD 6176SE@2.72Ghz - 4x AMD 6166HE@2.27Ghz  - 2x AMD 6172@2.1Ghz
          GPUs: 2x eVGA GTX-580@895Mhz - eVGA GTX-460@865Mhz - 2x eVGA GTS-450@950-925Mhz
