I am so dissapointed with processor. I am not extreme overclocker but I love to push HW to see what can.
And I love top Hardware but not overstatment.
For 24/7 for me is important stable work not on border of opportunities. Like 4.0GHz first year and than 4.5GHz MAX.
          I don't like 4.4 or 4.6GHz
But I am more dissapointed if Intel really put cheap thermal material in CPU.
This is madness for so big company if everything is true. No words to explain something like that.
I can't believe this is true but don't know, maybe.

4.6GHz on IVY = 4.9 on Sandy. 4.8GHz on IVY would be 5.1 on Sandy. The new CPU runs hotter because of the 22nm die shrink, it has nothing to do with the thermal material under the IHS, some people have removed the IHS and removed the stock Intel thermal material and replaced it with better material but only gained 5-8C difference. The chips start to really heat up at a certain vcore anywhere from 1.3-1.5v it just all depends on your chip, you may get one that gets very hot at 1.3 or you may get one that runs cool at 1.3 or higher.
Keeping up with the big dogs while using a cheaper platform is always fun.

I think same new thermal material is not so big difference like some try to present. Maybe with that try to support Intel but cheap material in last generation processor who help people on many jobs is worse option than little problems is architecture. With architecturer they give their best to make good product but if material is problem this is irresponsibile. I will insists on most exspensive thermal material for best performanse. Never mind and now is over I don't know to move IHS and change that.
Always change mind when try to decide what CPU.
Maybe if I go on Z77 FTW better options is 3700k on 4.0-4.5GHz.
Sandy owners affects little on Ivy impression.
Finaly today one good news Ashley Distributor confirm Z77 FTW import in Serbia. .
Ready like tense rifle to import, they words.

Like I sey more people are interest for Z77FTW in Serbia and real entusiast say board is something fantastic.
But I must be careful with CPU and choose right, because this is my upgrade for whole 3 years.
After upgrade CPU/MOBO/RAM I start to drawning some for GTX580 Classified and options how to become proud owners of one Air Cooler 3GB model, Ultra or not never mind, new or not never mind.  For me special is better sometimes than latest.

While waiting start to decorate comp for upgrade, sleeve cables, fans,  white front panel wire on HAF need some MDPC-X sleeve.
Can you imagine 24pin from Seasonic X sleeve and right connect in angle 24pin connector on Z77FTW. PERFECT.
I know Seasonic X is problem because of warranty(I have X-750 but I will sleeve to MDPC-X whole Seasonic).
Maybe ready new SSD clear for new board.
After this angle 24pin I can't buy standard anymore.  Enough is to see and know how looks like.

Is  Newegg selling Z77 at the same time since EVGA launchs it ?

I was also secretly wondering the same thing... did some googling, couldn't find it anywhere save a few websites here and there. Couldn't find it on newegg... usually they post it up and set it as 'out of stock.'

Any word on if other retailers will be getting it at the same time, or when other retailers will be getting it (roughly?) Or is this first batch only direct from EVGA, and we'll have to wait a while when they inevitably sell out in .02 seconds?

                      Thanks Jacob!

Between waiting for this and my turn to step up to the 680, I am tired. I mean seriously. What is the hold up?
This has been the worst quarter of manufacturing that I can recall. By the time we get the stuff, it will be OLD technology, and we will be upgrading again........ BOO

BTW, if I was not an EVGA Fanboy, I would already be rolling with a Z77 and 680GTX. Sometimes it pays to be a fan, and sometimes it doesn't.

I would not expect them to sell out immediately, we have a reasonable QTY.

Right now the latest BIOS's are being flashed, we expect to start shipping tomorrow.

I would not expect them to sell out immediately, we have a reasonable QTY.

Right now the latest BIOS's are being flashed, we expect to start shipping tomorrow.

So the board should be listed on the site for purchase tomorrow?

I'll give the z77's a little time and see how everyone fares with them, see what kind of clocks they can achieve and then go from there. So much new stuff out, damnit.

And to everyone that is so down on Ivy bridge...level with me for just a moment.  What are you doing with your computers where you have any *practical* use for the massive overclocks(5Ghz+) that you seem to think so necessary?  It's for sure not helping you game so please don't think that it is.  At best you raise your lowest fps a tiny amount and help to alleviate possible stutters.  If you can raise efficiency, lower power draw and sacrifice nothing in terms of real world performance, who the hell cares if it doesn't easily break 5Ghz stable on air because it gets hotter?

The 3770K chips run perfectly fine temperature wise(personally tested) at 4.3-4.4 Ghz on air(w/ stock voltage) and requires you to do nothing more than change a few BIOS settings and press save.  Now, am I saying you need to scrap your SB system and run out and buy a IB setup...heck no, but I'm saying that there is no reason to be so intensely negative about a temperature hike that doesn't effect you in any tangible way.

Well, for me, Internet explorer has been running a little slow

This is all true but it's fun to push the limits and then settle down at a nice resting pace for long term use

If I am paying more for a new processor, and a new motherboard, I would atleast like to be able to achieve the same clock I am able to achieve on my current 2600K, and I know they are faster clock for clock, hopefully a newer stepping chip could possibly handle the heat a little bit better. I would be happy with 4.6-4.7

Just clock it as high as you can on stock voltage(4.4-4.5) and leave it alone, the gaming performance(and basically everything else) is identical and there's no reason(at this point) to even bother clocking it higher.  Saying you're unhappy with IB because it gets hotter during overclocking is the equivalent of getting mad when you modify your car to have 500hp and then the new model year isn't as simple to get 500hp even though you use 5-7% less gas at idle and 20-25% less gas while moving.  And maybe you don't care about gas mileage, but some do.

I hate to be that guy....but I'm going to go ahead and say it.  If you have a 2600K @ 5Ghz, and you're upgrading to a 3770K for gaming then you are wasting your money and will see almost no gaming related improvements.   I remember the days when I used to be obsessed with the numbers, but at the end of the day, you can spend less money on your power bill and see no negative impact.  Power consumption SS posted below for reference.

The only reason I would consider upgrading to z77 would be for the PCI E 3.0 and the extra SATA ports, not too crazy about going through all of the trouble to enable it on an x79 board. BTW, do you have to do that on all x79's or just EVGA's offerings?
