LiquidKhaos v4?

I had a change in plans -- I'm moving to Philadelphia, my company asked me to take over something that put some serious coinage in my pocket. Looks like I won't be flying (LOL) and will continue to sit in IT (actually the new opportunity is what I wanted, better than where I'm at now)--we'll keep that for another day. I got the itch to build an X79, just wanted to throw this out there. It's insanely priced--nearly $3700 in parts, overkill maybe? It's only a rough draft, kind of a throw together quickly ordeal--might change parts, might cut down some of the snazzy. One thing I found really nice was the new MCP655 dual pump setup. I thought in my MountainMods 19" cube, it would be nice to tuck away to the side instead of two separate pumps unattached. Of course, theres a big cost in price for that. I could recover "some of the funds" by selling my other gear. I've been pondering a surround set up and thinking about whether I should just drop down to 3x 27" monitors versus 30". Whether I need SLI or TRI-SLI. Thoughts? I would personally go for the asus rampage IV extreme. I know this is EVGA and everything but from all that I have read it is by far the best x79 mobo on the market and they already make a block for it

Sounds like a good plan you have going there. Might be a wise idea to go for what BigH suggested though.

Yeah, I'm kinda thinking that too on the ASUS; I'm just eh, because I love EVGA LOL. The X58 I had was amazing; but I think if I am going to step it up then I need hardware that actually works. It'll be 6 months before I even start this, but nice to dream now. I'm torn on the 27-in monitors still. I was thinking about Dell Ultrasharp 27's with 6MS G2G response oppose to the ASUS with 3MS G2G response. I just like the quality of the Dell in terms of housing, panel, etc. Of course the ASUS is a 120hz LED.

knightsilver Good luck with find a good BIOS on the X79 EVGA's No problems now, they are all BIOS 32 and above, buying direct from EVGA and they are guaranteed to be 35.

I'd also cast in a vote for the Rampage IV, it's a hell of a board. I love EVGA but the R4E is the king of X79. If you're planning a dual loop, unless you're dying to burn cash I don't recommend it, as the performance increase is negligible. It's your build however so I look forward to seeing it!

I run two independent loops currently; one for CPU/Chipset, one for GPU's. I plan to continue that.
