GTX 680 stepping up.

Bought standard edition gtx 680 sli on its release date and I already registered and uploaded invoice. I am planning to step up it to 4gb version when it come out but I don't see stepping up option on my product yet. Is it because there's nothing to step up from here yet or is my product not qualified to step up?  Also is buying extanded warranty mendatory for step up program?
