Max Silencio Ouch, I must confess, Yes! I thought about that already to make a restore point and install the latest driver and see. But I will lose PCIe 3.0 as this is not supported in 301.10. Even if all the experts claim it's not important at all, I just want it because I want it... I mean without using AIDA64 gpu sensor detection I had no issues since a week. So I should disable this AIDA64 feature. I'm a bit stubborn about this because I've purchase 3 years support and was not willing to give up. I could play GTA 4 EFLC for hours recently with no issues. Max, I was not aware that I will lose PCIe 3.0 if I use 301.10. Is that true? Where did you read this and does this also apply to the 301.24 as well? Why would they take out one of the things we buy this card for?

EVGA_MatthewH, will you be able to tell us of a driver fix can take care of this? Are the RSODs damaging our hardware in any way?

Just got my GTX 680 a few days ago, and BAM RSOD. As others have stated, i dont even have AIDA 64, never heard of it until today. I only run EVGA Precision, running on a complete clean windows install with the latest Nvidia Drivers. I dont have GPUZ, or CPUZ, or any other monitoring programs. The red screen only happens when i'm on desktop. I play games to my hearts content without any problems. I see this thread got started way back in the beginning of April, and this issue still hasn't been addressed? Not only that, i hear that my $550 card is going to be obsalete in 4 months when this GK110 comes out...... I'm about to just send this card back for a refund and put the money in the bank for GK110 to be honest. I bought my GTX 480 for $500 when it first came out, and nvidia spat on my face with the release of the 580 shortly there-after. It looks like they are going to do it again with this GTX 685 coming out.

Afterburner Actually when I install new cards (Like this in early launch)... - I delete all Video drivers in my system.
- I do a clean-sweep and reg cleanup.
- I go into msconfig and turn off all my antivirus, firewalls, printers, fancy mouse software ETC and have windows fire up by itself.
- Oh and I tell windows to automatically install drivers as it is only installing the PCI-E drivers for windows to work because I deleted the drivers from Nvidia completely (See guide in the 500 series category)
- I download the most current WHQL driver (Or BETA if announced/tested and more stable)
- Shut down system, take out old cards, clean system (No dust allowed!!)
- Install new cards
- Fire up system, let windows do it's trick.
- Shut down system
- Fire up system and install Nvidia drivers
- Reboot
- Run bench of choice (If unsuccessful I know it is the card, install not the other items in the system at this point)
- Shut down, get a Pepsi and snacks
- Come back to system
- Fire it up
- Run games not needing to be online
- If all is a success, I go back into msconfig and turn on the printers and Antivirus/firewalls
- Test again
- Go back to msconfig and turn on what I want to be with the Windows startup...
This way I know how far back to go in this process when an issue comes up Otherwise it is really the luck of the draw... Or a gamble. If I just slap them in and away I go. I like your style. Glad I'm not the only one who plots methodical courses of action when it comes to networking/hardware/software modifications.

Re:Red Screen of Death. Tomato soup on screen! NVIDIAs NDA about RSOD

Yeah I went ahead and cancelled my order for a vanilla GTX680. RSOD, weird stuttering issues in Vsync, I just don't believe Kepler is ready for prime time yet. I may just wait until GK110 at this point, or at least until these issues get sorted.

Hm.... Just ran into this problem right now and I got this card for quite some time ( about 1 week after it was released ). Nothing has changed in the case and I did update my drivers but that was about 3-4 weeks ago. Odd...

Hello everybody, first of all, sorry for my english which is really bad. I have exactly the same issue with windows experience index and my ASUS GTX 680. my config is an asus p8H77 motherboard, intel i5-3570k not overclocked, 16 gigs of corsair 1600mhz, plextor ssd, a second Western Digital hdd, a 600W I don't remember the name 80 plus gold alim, an asus blu ray, and this f**king ASUS GTX 680. Not only with windows index but also with the games, reading a blu ray or even while surfing I get this RSOD. Some were talking about a problem with aida64 or gpuz but I have a clean install of windows and I didn't installed any monitoring or benchmarking software. All drivers are up to date. When starting a game, for sure it will end up with a RSOD. Sometimes it freezes, with disgracious pixels, the screen goes black and then the image reappears with a faulty message of Nvidia driver. Sometimes it goes red with nothing to do about it except a hard reset. After reinstalling windows totally, same problem. I've tried my old AMD radeon 5850 and... no problem at all. So it's clearly coming from the graphic card. A funny thing, when updating the bios of the motherboard, it solved the problem for 1 day and then rsod reappeared.
