Possible fix for Batman Arkham city dx11 issues

Woo Hooo I fixed my Batman game. Here is how I did it. Go into C:\Users\...\Documents\WB Games\\Batman Arkham City\BmGame\config then delete bmengine, bmgame and userengin. Start the game with launcher and reconfigure your settings. I have everything maxed except I am using 4x multi at 2560x1600. Run game you will get smooth 60+fps.If you want more fps ,exit game go into bmengine and every instance of bSmoothFrameRate=true change to false. Exit saving changes. Now this is important, right click on bmengine after changing it and change it to read only. Everything should run balls out now. I get 100fps+ most of the time with great gpu usage. I hope this helps some of you.

Did you find this out on your own, or did you stumble across this on the net somewhere?

I almost want to re-install this to see if it works. The game did look cool with dx11 turned on, but it just ran so bad on my machine.

Sticky this ! Thanks Rwoodburn... deleting those 3 items.... then reconfiguring launcher totally improved this game. Im running 3way sli 580's and a 2700k cpu and I would still get crazy FPS dips into the 40's. After your fix.. I was pretty much locked at 62 FPS, thats the max setting in default config. I then changed the "bsmoothframerate" from TRUE to False. now im playing game at 120 fps on my 120hz monitor... looks great! Just a note, I only saw 2 "bsmoothframerate" in the bmengine file to change to False... and then I did right-click to change that folder to read only. Thanks again, game is rendering great.

dartzreunion hey look at that really works..playable on dx11 finally..THANKS! What the... ...it can't be that easy! Not after the game has been out this long with the issue still unresolved from the developer?! Have you checked anti-aliasing settings, screenshot-vs-screenshot, to make sure that this is still working? The DX11 effects are definitely still there? PhysX running? etc?

Well i tried the fix posted cuz i was at a checkpoint that always stuttered when i started game no matter what setting so i used that as my reference. So then i tried the above fix and was no stutter at all, was kinda shocked actually. I didnt do the part where he said to turn all false to true or w/e though but..i did still notice some stuttering but not nearly as bad as before so it def works it just wasnt a perfect fix for me so good find though :)

Hey guys, I've been looking around for the DX11 issue and found this thread. Interesting find! I tried this and my game does indeed run smoother than before. But there are still some stuttering from time to time, been paying attention to the FPS and it never drops lower than 20 (by the way I set my settings back to high and PhysX on etc...) Anyway, from what I've seen in the original UserEngine.ini, the TessellationAdaptivePixelsPerTriangle was set to 2048. Having a new and "fresh" ini file after starting the game, this variable was down to 256. This is probably a cause of the stutter? Oh, and I'm running the v1.00... Dunno if I will get better performance with the newer patch/fixes. EVGA forums

I think it should be too cuz i spent hrs on google looking for fix and this was only thing that worked and when i said it didnt 100% fix it i meant like it might stutter for half a sec if that in some areas but then its smooth but i dont even notice it. Figure i say cuz some ppl anal and might complain its not a 100% fix but heck, i think xbox version does that too. So yes i second the sticky for this fix

worked for me but like i said in above post, i still can see it stutter just for like half a sec so while it fixes the major stutter, there is some slight still but compared to what it was, i consider this a fix.

Uninstall Physx then download the Physx software at Nvidia and install it. It fixed crashing and stuttering problems for me. I'm using gtx 690.

Glad I never had any problems with this game. Well except for funny bugs like hitting a guy who bounces of the ground and flies up up up... And splatters on the ground after few seconds lolz

When I played it(friends machine with a GTX460), it ran great without the Dx11 features enabled. At the time, when I tried to turn those on, the game ran badly. I didn't know if it was due to not having enough horsepower or if it was the dx11 bug. May purchase this game myself and play through again with the dx11. Gonna see if I can find a deal on a box copy from somewhere.

Just got it in the mail today. I installed, tried to run everything with the DX11 features and it ran like absolute crap, just like I remember from many months ago. I did the changes suggested by the OP, and BAM!!!!! Running like a charm at about 60FPS with everything maxed out. Thanks!

Did the above steps, still get some stutters on extreme detail, DX 11 (tessellation high), AA disabled, PhysX on normal. Is the PhysX bogging down my fps?
