I'm noticing your temps.   Looks like they're sitting about 70C with the fan at 85%?

How loud is the fan at that speed and what kind of ambient temperature did you have during testing?  Were they set on auto or did you manually set them at max?

By the way, thanks for the great collection of eye candy.  Love it.

I wear headphones when I game... so fan noise is trivial to me.  I use a custom fan profile where anything over 60*C results in max fan.  Just my personal preference to keep them as cool as possible.  The default profile keeps the fan as low RPM as possible... even well into the 90s it doesn't make a lot of noise by default.
 
If you've heard the 480s at 85%, these are a lot quieter.  If you're heard the 580s at 85%, it's about the same in my opinion.

How did you get Precision to show up in Skyrim.  Stupid ? for sure, but for some reason it doesn't appear when I run it.

Exactly why 2GB is plenty for single-monitor setups! So, for the average gamer, these is great.  For the NVIDIA Surround users (the small handful of them, obviously those 4GB cards will be helpful). *ahem, AB*

I just loaded up version 3.0.1 and it worked. It wasn't anything fancy I did, I assure you. Hooray for dumb luck.

Ya that is good to see about the Vram. Im gaming on a 1920x1200 Single Monitor Setup. I Have never gone over 2gb on BF3, Did a couple of times on unmodded Crysis 2 DX11 + High Res, So never really got close to the 3gb in SLI setup. Im upgrading to 680 SLI as soon as they come in stock and i can get them, so hopefully soon. The only thing has even made me blink is the lower Vram, but without enough benchmarks we dont know if its an issue or not. For single monitor 2gb should be fine for me (though if 4gb were available ATM i would pay the more for 4gb), but I am going to go Surround once i move into my new place in a few months, so we will see. Nice Setup btw

Thanks for posting all of this great information pertaining to the GTX 680, I'm sure it will help a lot of us in the decision on whether to upgrade or not. Personally, I am going to be going for another SSD first, buying into the 40 GB Intel SSD right when it came out is starting to kick my ass... as I sit here with 1.85 GB of storage left.  Kepler will be next though, might wait for the GK11O

You got me interested so I redownloaded Crysis 2.  I updated Post 2 with the results.  Nearly maxed out the framebuffer, but it's good it's getting utilized!

Any idea what FPS might be if using these with the ASUS VG278H in 120Hz 3D?  And would it be better for me to wait for the 4Gb versions and go 3-Way SLI?  Would like to have 120 FPS to go with the 120Hz refresh rate of my monitor.

Depending on the game, the fps in 3d are anywhere between 50-75% of what they are in 2d. This percentage keeps going up though, as developers become more skilled it appears. Crysis 2 had barely any negative effects by rendering in 3d vision for myself.

The only game that really comes close is Crysis 2.  So I'm not worried about them maxing out anytime soon.

I don't have GTA IV or Shogun 2.  I thought about getting Shogun 2 though if there was a fire sale on Steam or something.  I have no desire for GTA IV, just not my thing!

Setting it to 132% doesn't do anything in and of itself.  It only tells the card that IF it needs more power, it is allowed to use it.  So, if you leave it as is, and just set the 132% power draw, it will only draw power above 100% if GPU Boost determines a need based upon utilization after factoring in thermal headroom.
 
If you want to preserve stock settings or have a potential GPU limitation, leave it as is.  If all else is good, set it to 132% and let the good times roll.  These cards actually do an amazing job overclocking themselves.  The thing for us enthusiasts is to determine the best clock offsets to keep the GPU Boost from downclocking too much reducing performance due to thermals.  So, if you want more OC potential, you have to keep these cards below 75-80*C -- this is the key difference from previous generations where you could run them all the way to max operating temperature and the no one cared.

Thanks for the helpful response.  I'm really encouraged with this card.  My Heaven bench with my gtx 570sc (modest settings 1680x1050 2x aa + tesselation) I jumped from 58.5 to 93.6 fps and I haven't even oc'd this baby yet.

Just for giggles... I added Source engine to Post 2... Portal 2 / L4D2... don't hold your breath... it's not exciting.
