EVGA GeForce GTX 680 - Single, 2-Way and 3-Way SLI
Thursday, March 22, 2012 6:04 AM
( permalink)
The GTX 680 has launched, and boy is it awesome. If you have not checked out any of the EVGA articles there is a lot of reading/watching to catch up on! EVGA GeForce GTX 680 EVGA Precision X EVGA OC Scanner X EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Video Overview EVGA Precision X & NVIDIA GPU Boost Video Overview There is A LOT new to the GeForce GTX 680, from feature set, to technical specs even down to the way you overclock, so I highly recommend to check out all the above. Anyways, I decided to do some testing with 1,2 and 3 cards in SLI mode to get an idea of the scaling and performance. Check out the results below! 3DMark 11 Extreme - Single: 3,123
- 2-Way: 5,295
- 3-Way: 8,514
Heaven Benchmark – 1920x1080/Normal Tess/2xAA/4xAF - Single: 78.1 FPS
- 2-Way: 132.5 FPS
- 3-Way: 172 FPS
Metro 2033 – 1920x1080/DX11/Very High/4xAA/4xAF - Single: 42.67 FPS
- 2-Way: 68.97 FPS
- 3-Way: 92.33 FPS
Batman Arkham City – 1920x1080/DX11/Max Settings(No PhysX)/8xAA - Single: 75 FPS
- 2-Way: 129 FPS
- 3-Way: 154 FPS
Also if you have not checked out EVGA Precision X, I highly recommend to! Works with all cards, but it is especially nice with the GeForce GTX 680.

Khalus Very very nice. Love the new Precision, but damnit all to heck, when will you offer the 680 for sale!? Thought Newegg was gonna have it avail by now, at least that was the rumor going around since it was leaked for a few min yesterday. They are up on Newegg, I have the screen up. Also, they were up on the EVGA site for a few minutes, now they seem not to be.

I've got 3 on the way... I got my order in on evga directly at 9:10... I hope it goes through. I still need to wait for waterblocks though... hopefully they come out quickly.

For me it seems like EK has blocks out the fastest. I was thinking of putting it under water, but I may just wait for the GK110 later this year. Tough call. But if you have 3, water for sure! Good luck and cant wait to see pictures!

I'll be content with just one. Not an OCer, but I do enjoy my games running on the best settings possible, including using masses of mods all-the-while keeping a more than decent FPS. Have one on the way...its already being packaged and hopefully may even ship today...that'd be sweet! Now to work on selling my current EVGA GTX 580...

Interested in the 4GB Hydro Classy but interestingly the 680 does not appear to be better than 580 from a CUDA performance standpoint from initial reviews.

Yes 4-Way works, I just didn't test it in this particular setup, but we have used 4-Way and it works great :)

Looks amazing. I'd love to have one, but then again, I'd need at least two cards to outperform my 580 3-way SLI. SLI doesn't work too good in games I play, though. And there's again awesome amount of GPU-power in this card while there are no games to fully utilize it. There are a few exceptions of course..

What kind of performance boost can I expect coming from my 3 470's if I were to pick up 2 680's? I'm still on the fence but I really wanna jump in. Power and heat aside guys, just performance.

You know Jacob I've never run 3d mark 11 I've run vantage and heaven a million times though lol. I'll run it tomorrow. So you think 2 680's will give news a nice boost over my 470's? Would it make sense to expect a bump as if I were coming from 2 580's? Since I believe my 3 are about that of 2 580's.

Well I ran the 3dm11 demos and it ran fine. I then started a benchmark run and it was until the combined test. I can't get past 3 quarters of the load screen and it locks up. I have to end task the 3dm11 client. Tried twice now and I can't get past the load screen of that combined test. Odd to say the least. Everything else is fine with the box and runs fine. Games benchmarks etc.

For kicks I just did a fast vantage run on my system as it is in my sig and scored 38950P. So it seems to be right where it should be for my first gen nehalem clocked at 3.8 and my 3 470's at stock. Where do yo guys think I'll score on vantage if I replace my 470's with 2 680's?

Tri sli 680's 3d mark 11 extreme setting 8,514 score...My gtx 580's tri sli score 6590 extreme setting. 1924 jump in score is nice, but, I will wait for the next cards to come out( GK110). Nice cards but not another $1500 nice when you already have 3 580's.

Batman Arkham City – 1920x1080/DX11/Max Settings(No PhysX)/8xAA nice numbers I have 3way 680s as well but how come in 5760x1080 Batman is totally unplayable and fluctuates from 60 down to 24 fps? Seems like a lot of games are having issues in 3-way and especially in 5760x1080. Crysis 2 in 5760x1080 in DX11 mode MAX runs at 32fps yet DX9 MAX plays @ 60+ no prob? And Heaven Benchmark was like 42 fps in 5760 x 1080? It be cool if you posted the benches for the 5760 x 1080 resolutions so those that have 3-way and play at 5760x1080 know if something is wrong or not. For its pointless to play 1920x1080 at such a high FPS unless you have a 120hz screen, I have 3 X 42" LED 3D with 2ms response so > 60 really does not do anything in my case.
