    Hey guys,

How long did it actually take to get your replacement chips?

I just got an email from support saying that it's going to take 1-3 business days to process and then another 6-8 days to arrive...

Having to wait nearly a week and a half seems unacceptably slow considering I paid a good chunk of change for this mobo and it didn't work on arrival...

      Depends on your location.
I live in Aus, so it took a little bit to get to me.
They may not have the actual BIOS chips on hand, as they do have to order them.

I would email Matt directly and see what he has to say.

        Ok.
I've never had to replace a BIOS chip before. Is it dangerous/difficult? Also where is it on this board? Is it underneath that EVGA branded "Classified" plastic covering?

EDIT: Also does the new chip come with instructions?

You just open the clam shell like housing and remove the old and install the new, takes only a few seconds.

Same problem here.  X79 arrived on Friday, (DIRECT from EVGA!) still has rev .025 BIOS in it.  Emailed Matt, hopefuly will get replacement soon.

FIRST QUESION:  My SLI has a two position jumper for the BIOS.  Which one is postion 1 and which is position 2?
The replacent chip will work off of position 1, correct?

SECOND QUESTION:  In reading through the forums, it was said to replace the chip, then flash the second BIOS with the first chip.  How do you go about doing that?

THIRD QUESTION:  What is the purpose of two (or more) BIOS'? Only one I can think of is if you wanted to boot into a different configuration.  Then it would make sense to mount a switch so you can select BIOS without removing the cover.

            Thanks all!

            Terry

First: The replacement BIOS will be off the number 1 position, as for the jumper, I have a FTW not the SLI so mine is a switch not a jumper, so I cannot help you there.

Second: Sorry, can't help you there

Third: The purpose is so that if you have a bad flash down the track, you can switch to a different BIOS and still have a working motherboard.
Another reason is for people who bench, they can have different BIOS settings specifically for benching and then other profiles for general use.

Kris where you able to resolve the issue you were having with the bios and not being able to boot up? I just built my new system. Went to fire it up for the first time and It would not boot off the win7 cd. I get the same error code as well 0d. EVGA told me I have to RMA the board and they will ship out a new MB with a new bios chip.... I'm speechless. I've never had an issue with a MB fresh out of the box like this. Very dissapointing.
