Lessee... worked my butt off before Christmas, made lotza dough, then the work dried up. Didn't hook a job again till Jan. 22. I wanted the job, pay wasn't so good, but hey, the job was easy. went for the interview, agreed on $14/hr to start.
Kinda sucks, big drop from $20/hr, but you gotta pay the bills. Get my first cheque on Friday. Yeah, $13/hr. I'm not impressed, I spend $40 a week in fuel to commute, that works out to $12/hr after fuel. I'm REALLY not impressed. But, I gotta pay the bills.
Talk to my neighbour, they need a warehouse guy, my interview is next week, $17/hr to start, Phil says the job is mine. I called the boss/owner at 7am before I went to work on Friday(already dropped off a resume), he tells me that he saw my resume and just wanted to talk to Phil and Kevin(Kevin is Phil's boss, they both install flooring for him and I've worked for them off and on for the last year) on Monday, but I'm the only guy he is looking at. Sweet.
Then Phil tells me we have a cash job next Saturday, $300 in my pocket.
The guy I was working for before Christmas has a huge contract coming up in March, some of it is working for the city of Toronto, due to their "fair wage rule", when we demo/tear out the old hockey rinks before installing the new ones, I'll be paid $45/hr to demo, because we have to get union wages. That's a month of work at $45/hr for the demo alone.
In the meantime, I'm still working for that same boss on my days off at $17/hr. Damn, I still have the shop key, he told me to hang on to it in case I need tools or to bring my car inside to work on it.
I gotta say my luck has been pretty freakin good lately, after looking really bad for a while.
Got some stuff in a plastic box that's makes my screen turn on when I push the button on the front, cool.
I think it's aliens, but I'll have to confirm with voodoo do-er on that.
