Nvidia Installer Failed PLEASE HELP!
Tuesday, January 03, 2012 8:01 AM

helllo, ive been trying to install the 285.62 update for the drivers on my evga geforce gtx 590. but i always get that message in the title. all the components that are listed just say 'Not Installed' ->nvidia update, physx system software, 3d vision controller driver, hd audio driver, graphics driver, 3d vision driver. ive downloaded 285.62 from this website, nvidia's website, and the disc that came with the graphics card and all gave me the same exact message. ive tried uninstalling all the drivers, but im stuck with just Nvidia Graphics Driver 275.33 which cannot be uninstalled. Please Help!!!

Your confusing yourself Follow the guide, you should not be working with the device manager. You are NOT attempting to remove the the Videocard or its Standard VGA device sofware. I suggest you take a step back, have a cup of coffee and read the guide thru slowly. Then do a clean boot to the desktop and try again.

ive done everything the guide says to do. but when i have to individually uninstall everything from add/remove programs, im still stuck with the Nvidia Graphics Driver 275.33 not being able to uninstall. it was already the only Nvidia program under add/remove programs so it was the only thing that needs to be uninstalled

It may come down to needing to reinstall your OS if your driverstore or registry has become corrupted. You may be able to do an 'in place' upgrade install which will leave all your programs intact leaving you with just installing Windows Updates.

ccreddog10 im using windows 7 ultimate 64 If all attempts to remove the previous driver have failed, and you cannot install any drivers, doing an in place upgrade reinstall of the OS is probably your safest bet and the most likely to succeed. As always, make sure you back up any critical files. I've never had it fail, but you never know.

ccreddog10 ok awesome, thanks much :-) im gonna give it a shot. wish me luck! ill keep everybody posted Do you know how to do an 'upgrade install'? it's essentially the same process as if you upgraded from Vista. The installer will ask when you start the install. Select Upgrade, and you should be good to go.

If you have a win 7 recovery cd, boot from it and do a repair.
