Boot off BIOS #2, get into windows, switch to BIOS #1, flash to 25, and it should work fine. We are actively working on the next BIOS release to address the clear CMOS bug. For now you need to restore defaults, save and reset - if your OC doesn't get applied.

Secondary BIOS working like a charm.

Quick question, what is a good sustainable vCore?  I am at 1.375 idle @ 47 multi and it spikes to 1.4 something under load.

Temps are low 50's on water.

    O/C newb here, sorry.

I've actually found better stability with Vdroop on and booting at 1.400-1.425 and under load it drops to about 1.375v in eLeet.  I've heard, however, that these wild swings between idle and load as reported by software are grossly exaggerated. I need to get a multi-meter to prove out for myself...

I don't no why but on overclock  at 46 multi at 1.35 idl the vcore goes at 1.42 .The computer reboot when i start OCCT.
the only way i found  to be more stable but not perfect is to put the VCCIO ay 1.215 the PLL at 1.875 or 1.9 and the VCCSA at 1.2 but the wierd thing is i dont touche the bus speed ,only the multi of the cpu. then maybe is the bad bios.I try all the bios even the 30  and i am deceived of the bios of this board .
I hope evga will make good change in the bios for better overclocking.

it says right on the motherboard stickers that 1.65 is the recommended max. they wouldn't recommend a max that would torch your system.

If that's on Air, then I would say it's really good. I'm at 4GHz @ 1.22V and my max temps on IntelBurnTest are topping at 80C.
Granted, I think I was a bit too liberal with my TIM application. I need to resit my heatsink I think.

I would be fairly happy with those temps then on a H80.

If you want them to drop slightly more, try reducing the voltage a little bit (and I mean a little bit) and see if it's still stable. If so, then profit!

It depends on where he has his h100 at and what fans he's using. I'm at 4.5ghz and have 1.385v.. currently while folding on all 8 threads i'm sitting at 71c on the hottest core and 69c on the coolest.

I have 2 fans mounted on noiserblocked H100 at a maximum speed of 1400RPM, and I think that's why.
In any case, the temperatures are not excessive is not it?

Need SBE really so much voltage? 1,4V or more for only 4,5Ghz?
My 3960X is running witch 1,18-1,2V @4Ghz stable for folding.
For 3 days he was running with only 1,141V @4Ghz stable.
If my P.6903 WU's is finished tomorrow, i will try to overclock it higher and look, what is the highest stable setting.
BTW: Did someone make(s) a list with overclocking outcomes from 3930/3960?

Ok..., I've got Speedstep disabled and I've got the multiplier for my CPU set to 36.  Yet, in Eleet, it shows my CPU running at 1200 mhz unless the computer is actively doing something.  I thought disabling Speedstep would keep it at 3.6 ghz.

Also when running benchmarks, it seems to be capped at 3.6 ghz and doesn't boost to 3.8 ghz as is listed for the max turbo speed for my 3930K.

How does one keep the CPU from downclocking and how does one raise the boosted, turbo speed on an EVGA X79 Classified with BIOS 37?

Answers are probably incredibly simple for the experts here, but the BIOS on the X79 boards seem to have an order of magnitude greater options and choices compared to my old X58 build.

With C-states disabled the 3930 will not go past 35, from its default 32 multiplier, which is the all core running turbo speed.  When you enter in the multiplier manually I assume it is essentially turning off the incremental turbo speeds to run at a set speed.  If you have C-states disabled then Windows would be what is lowering your multiplier and voltage.  Just go into Power Options and make sure Minimum Processor State is set at 100%.

(Power Options -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Processor Power Management -> Minimum Processor State = 100%)

The only thing that should be enabled on that page is Turbo.  Without Turbo enabled... nothing happens.

Leave the individual core multiplier alone on that page and set it on the main Overclocking page.  This has worked without issue since BIOS 030.
