GT 220 Excessive Fan Noise... BIOS Update? Jacob Freeman says,"Yes!"

I was wandering through the Newegg comments section on the GT 220 SSC card when I came about this response from EVGA: Thanks for the review. We apologize for the inconvenience, and have listened to our customers concerns regarding the fan noise. With that being said, we are pleased to announce that an update is available for EVGA 220 cards which allow silent operation with no impact to performance. With the new update applied, the card will operate quietly in all applications such as DVD playback and web browsing, and will increase the fanspeed based on the GPU operating temperature if necessary for 3D games. In addition, new incoming shipments will already have the update applied. To download the update please download the following file and follow the below instructions: ftp://ftp.evga.com/bios/1227.iso To install: * Use CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD. * Reboot the PC and ensure that the CD Drive is the primary boot device. * Press “Y” to initiate the flash, then remove the CD and reboot. Driver reinstallation may be necessary. Thank you, Jacob Freeman Can anybody shed some light on this subject? Is it true? Does it only apply to the SSC cards?
