No the blue screens stopped completely after I installed the intel site's USB 3.0 driver. I can testify that. I could recreate the blue screen when logging on created an error it would blue screen every time I shut down if that error happened then after the intel site driver I may have still gotten that error but it did not blue screen and I still get that error but it does not blue screen anymore, it would blue screen 4 or more times a day depending on how many times I rebooted before the intel site's USB 3.0 driver.

Following up on my testing, I'm going to say that the video drivers are completely unrelated. Just went from the 295.51 beta drivers to 275.33 drivers and the USB 3 still works. With the 275's still installed, I uninstalled the USB 3 drivers, disabled the USB 3 in the BIOS, re-enabled the USB 3, and reinstalled the USB 3 drivers (reboots in between each of those steps). Still works, I'm stumped. Something else must have changed (Windows update?) or else my USB 3 controller just decided that it wants to work.

Which board to you have? Was this all with the matching driver from EVGA's site?

No it was using the driver on intel's site 2.1.28.0 I have a Z68 SLI. Thanks, I read an article describing USB 3.0 has problems with their controller overheating early in USB3.0's life cycle and has been resolved by better heatsyncs, this could be unrelated EVGA's USB 3.0 probs/.

I have a BETA firmware for the P67/Z68 FTW boards. If anyone is still having issues with USB 3.0 please email me (Matth@evga.com) so I can send you the firmware to test.

I'd be more than willing to test it, although my USB 3 has been working lately. If you've got the current firmware also (just in case), I'll definitely give it a shot.

This, apparently, does not apply to the NEC/Renesas controller. So good news for the VIA (FTW Boards) people, I'll continue to wait.

Sooo...about those video drivers. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but the NVIDIA installer includes a 3D Vision USB driver. I still want to say it's unrelated, but hear me out. I've noticed that when playing music in iTunes and plugging something in to the USB 3, the music will skip/stutter for a second as it connects. Same device on USB 2 doesn't do this. For audio and video, I'm using the HDMI on my GTX 460. Thoughts? It's about the only logical link I can see between the USB operation and the video drivers - IF there actually is one.

Has there been any update in regards to the USB 3.0 issue and are there new beta drivers in development? (Also) I have the z68 FTW model.

Its not that my USB 3.0 drops out, but that it has never worked. I have a 3.0 hard drive that I use regularly to transfer content from laptop to desktop and I would like to 3.0, but its not that big of a deal. Although I must admit the fact that this motherboard is $260 and has USB 3.0 issues is very sad considering I can get a motherboard for $160 that has working USB 3.0 and 80% of the features this one does.

My mouse was connected to my USB 3.0 slots since i made this computer, and i never had any problems with it, all of a sudden today, i start my computer up and my mouse isn't working. none of my usb 3.0 ports on my p67 ftw, front or back, work with anything, not with my mouse or keyboard, or even the 3.0 external hard drives i have, what the hell? i'm tired of the problems i'm having with this board, i don't necessarily need these ports, but why are they all of a sudden not working? i've downloaded and installed every single bios and driver about 50 times because of all the different problems i've encountered, so i don't think it's the drivers. It was working fine last night and this morning it decides not to work.

If nothing else, it might be worth a shot to email MattH per his earlier post and ask about the beta USB 3 firmware.

The USB 3.0 was working fine last night... what the hell? I've had nothing but problems with this board... thought it was all fine now.

Yeah it has been working fine, i had my mouse in the 3.0, just because it was the random port i plugged it in to, i turned my computer on this morning before class and the mouse wasn't working, and i moved it to a regular port and it worked, and nothing worked in any of my 3.0 ports. The beta firmware just tells me the same exact "can't find hardware " i never noticed if the VIA USB things were ever there, but i would assume that they were. I'll probably just try resetting everything to see what happens

Why didn't i try this earlier... i don't know.. i feel so dumb right now haha.

I've been having usb 3.0 problems with my p67 ftw board as well. I cannot get the onboard ports on the back of the board to "remember" my usb3.0 drives. I plug one in and it works fine, but as soon as I shut down and reboot, it will not come up until I shut off the drive and plug the power back in. I don't even have to unplug the usb cable. I also cannot get the usb3.0 bracket to work as well. It's the one with that new usb 3.0 plug that plugs into the blue usb jumper on the board. It will not recognize the same drives that the other ports would. It will sometimes recognize the drive, but the data partition on the drive will come up as a RAW partition instead of NTFS.

I cannot verify that this means anything, but maybe it will help those of tech support. I just reinstalled my windows onto a SSD and now my USB 3.0 works. This was a fresh install, it may be chance, or it may not be but I have rebooted several times already and it is still working. The only difference in my PC is the SSD, nothing else was changed and I have the drivers that came with the motherboard installed not the ones on the website. Just thought that I would mention it. Probably just chance, but you never know. USB 3.0 has never worked on this motherboard before and I have done 3 installs of Windows (including this).

feniks have you tried testing the usb 3.0 beta firmware from MatthewH? No. I have not. I was getting irritated last night as I could not get any of this to work. I read through this thread again and disabled the USB 3.0 in the BIOS and started Windows, then re-enabled USB 3.0 and start Windows again and it started working. I have not restarted my PC yet, but feel that I will loose the 3.0 connectivity when I do. As a side note: I was looking throught the PCIe USB 3.0 cards on Newegg and noticed that some of the VIA chipsets (which I believe that these on the Z68 are) are getting bad reviews as the cards are having the same problems as the Z68 Motherboard. I have not dived in deep enough yet to see if there is another chipset availble other than the VIA. Waht was the verdict on the BETA firmware? Did it work?

I had trouble installing the BETA firmware, then Matt wrote an e-mail back saying he was recalling the ROM because a lot of users were having problems with the software. His last advice was to wait. I still have USB 3.0 issues too as well to be frank.
