Updating Bios 730a Windows wont boot Monday, August 01, 2011 10:29 PM (permalink)
Hello,
I just attempted to update the bios on my motherboard because it never showed the CPU model. Been a problem for a long time now. Looked around the web and people said to update the bios. I was flashing the bios from a CD and it finished but I couldn't boot to windows after. Not sure what i can do now. Please help.

Make sure power is removed. Take out the battery. Reset the CMOS. Leave the battery out for about 15 minutes. Put it back in. Then see if the motherboard will boot.

thanks for the reply. i tried it and it turns blue screen for a couple seconds after it says starting windows. i took out the ram and the mobo had the c1 post code. i got into windows once with one stick, tried putting the 2nd stick and now both arent working. ram seemed fine before the flashing attempt. did i just kill my ram ?

When you flash the BIOS or clear CMOS, all BIOS settings will return to the original factory default settings which should work ok, but not always..I'm just guessing, but when you updated the BIOS, the new version maybe has some kinda compatibility issue with your hardware (mainly RAM), where as the old version did not..Setting the RAM speed/timing/voltage manually (not set on Auto) to specs is especially critical as well as the date/time..There are other settings to look at that you may need/want to change also, such as First Boot Device, Drive A, Init Display First (Onboard/PCI/PCIEx), SmartFan, CPU Feature and more. Take a look at all the BIOS settings and set them as needed/wanted and see how it works and go from there.
