Corsair H100. Installed. Finally! *pics* Thursday, July 28, 2011 11:09 PM (permalink)
Okay, I am going to make this brief and will edit the post tomorrow with additional information. For now, I wanted to get the pics up for you all to look at and be jealous of. Check back for an extensive review/write up in this thread.

Quick info: I have the fans setup to push cool air through the radiator and into the case. At lower speeds the fans are pretty quiet. At full tilt the fans aren't noisy but you can hear a buttload of air passing through the radiator, which is a little noisy (but its a a good white noise IMO). Also, while you are supposed to be able to select the fan profile mode via that button on the CPU block, I have my questions about it. I have it set to full tilt, but the fans only ramp up when the CPU is under load and gets hot. I think it needs to reach a set temp or something. I am sure I could simply run the fans off of the PSU/MB and bypass this issue, but we will see what Corsair says about it. That being said, even at the lower fan speeds, my idle temps are in the low 30s.

First, the packaging. Nothing special, however I know some of you like to see these things...

And now on to the contents there in...

And the finished product...

What's the voltage you got going through you 920?
And do you have HT enabled?

                What are your ambient temps?

Also, do they include a set of screws for a second set of fans? I know it's a long shot, but figured I'd ask.

so my 930 should get lower temps then you since my voltage isn't as high

HA, YES. I was actually trying to show how short the 3 pin cables are for the stock Corsair fans. They are meant to plug directly into the H2O block, so they need not be very long, but still.

Oh and no, this did not come with hardware to install a second set of fans. Frownyface. I will try this out with my NoiseBlocker fans this weekend.

                        Also, ambient temps:

                        http://www.weather.com/we...y/Chula+Vista+CA+91915

And of note... I saw an ~8*C increase in temps on GPU #1 (top card). This is obviously due to the warm/hot air blowing across the radiator and onto the card. The card, however, is still only maxing out at 68-70*C under sustained 100% load, so I'm not overly concerned. Yet.

How thick is the H100 radiator? Im wondering if I would have enough room to mount both the fans and rad inside my Cosmos S on the ceiling and have enough space between my motherboard heatsinks.

Looks friggin awesome by the way, how long have you had those black and red sleeves for?

Maybe you will? The install literally look me 20 minutes... and the unit didnt come with instructions (packaging error)!

FYI, the installation for the H60 is identical.

Oh wow maybe I will be able to find some time to install it then.  I have a H70 installed right now, I didn't like the installation for it.  The H100 looks way better!

Has anyone ever removed an H70 btw?  I remember I put in the double sided tape...Is it hard to remove the backplate with the tape?

PM EVGA forum member "Rafale". He has a lot experience with those units. Also the Corsair forums will be able to assist.

Also, from what I've seen, the install for the H6-/H80/H100 is MUCH easier than that on the H50/H70. No little "locking ring", etc.

The hardest part was installing the radiator in a horizontal orientation and with the fans in a "push" configuration. I had to hold the radiator and fans up against the inside of the top of my case then try to thread the long screws down through the top. It was a PITA, however this is not a "standard" fan/mounting configuration. Corsair wanted me to install the fans on the bottom of the radiator which would have made things a lot easier.

Thanks, I'll check the Corsair forums.

That locking ring was the thing I hated most about the H70.  I'm sure while installing it I screwed up the TIM at least somewhat.

My two Panaflo fans should be getting here today too, so I'll be putting those on the H100. Thanks for the pics btw!  Great to see good pics of what the H100 will look like installed.  Looks great!

FYI, there is only enough supplied mounting hardware to install 2 fans (screws/washers).

That sucks, but hopefully I'll have some screws that will work around somewhere.  I guess if not, I can always steal the screws from my H70 lol.

I was actually just thinking of doing that lol.  Doesn't look like Micro Center has any that size in stock (Ramguy says 6-32x1.25"), Home Depot is probably the easiest place to get them.

I'll give the H70 screws a shot first though.

True. I was thinking of just taking the stock screws to the Home Depot to have the hardware guy find matching units. Probably 99% cheaper than ordering from Corsair.

Let me know if you figure that part out.

That was my plan for tonight. I hope either ACE, Menards, LOWES, or Home Depot has something so I can get all 4 fans on right off the bat.

Shouldn't be too hard. Just be careful when screwing them into the rad. From what I can tell the stock screws are only threaded 1/4 of the way down it's length in order to prevent you from over-tightening the screws into the radiator fins and thus damaging them.

Very nice! I wonder how it compares with the H70 with regards to temps. The ability to add 2 more fans and thinner profile are obvious benefits, and of course no locking ring. Those things are cantankerous lil buggers.
