Just curious but why do you need 24GB of memory?

-3dmark 11 run...... video cards at 700 stock..... cpu @ 3.6 ghz.
 
looked at the top score here which is ~15k'ish........ dude has a 980x @ 4.3... so thats 2 more cores, 700mhz on the cpu....... and 900mhz on the gpus, so thats 200 more mhz on there.  even though 3dmark 11 says STOP you have a problem, I think my system is performing at what it SHOULD at these clocks.

oh, and the stuff I make is terribly boring. Instructional videos for a company that sells lateral flow dispensers............haha. I do it on the side.......good money though, and it's basically how I pay to upgrade my rig now and then :P  I work in radio by day.

Looking at your scores the cards are performing as they should however your CPU is what is holding you back. If you look at your Physics and Combined test, which are more labor intensive on the CPU, you'll see they aren't improving but rather staying around 25/31 mark. This to me is a clear indication of CPU bottleneck.

To test this you could adjust your CPU clock and you should start to see the physics and combined tests change. Just remember though, with CPU overclocking you'll get to a point where the additional heat will begin to slow the processor and you'll see little to no performance gain.

I am definitely aware that my cpu speeds are restricting things. But with the memory I have, going past 3.6 has been very tough. I just wanted to try and ensure I wasn't having any issues other than the cpu bottlenecking.......and now I feel better about that. I'll put more effort into squeezing more o/c out of my 920, but memory starts to disappear at anything higher than 3.6.

Truth........ no reason to leap from 480s to 580s unless youre doing it for vram.
