ASUS P8P67 Deluxe dual RJ45 LAN ports question (which one is better?) Wednesday, April 20, 2011 11:38 AM (permalink)

I know you can only use one LAN port for internet usage and my motherboard comes with two LAN ports. I have an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Rev. 3. I have to pick one to use, I was wondering if one is better than the other, which one is "faster", overall which one will give me the best preformance.

"We also have a pair of eSATA ports and dual RJ45 LAN ports, one controlled by the Realtek 8111E and one controlled by the Intel 82579 Gigabit LAN controller."

I like the Intel's, we use them at work with great success. I don't think you will see any performance difference between the two though.
Intel supports cross vendor adapter bridging, you should see if that an option for you. With the two adaptors bridged you would be at 2gbps. However, you would only benefit from this on your local lan and only if the other device you are communicating with is configured the same way.

Tuesday, July 03, 2012 2:57 PM (permalink) I have the same mobo; have been having real trouble with the Realtek losing its connection. A search shows this problem is common, and none of the suggested solutions have worked for me. So far everything is fine with the Intel controller.
