^^ Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers jealousy over that shirt/coat, and they were going to kill him but just sold him into slavery.  Then they brought back Joseph's colorful coat covered in blood to Jacob their father telling him his favored son was killed.  Not a very good beginning to a story.  It ends well though :)
