Any help would be appreciated I am getting kind of annoyed with this, its been happening like daily....

I think my card is still under warranty... I registered the only thing I am unsure of is I ordered it from NCIX from this website does that count as ordering it right from EVGA since I don't see an order direct from NVIDEA option.  Not to mention the only "receipt" I have is a printed one from the order.  Some help would be wonderful because I love the card and I just started acting up recently the last month or so....

I had thought of that but have been hesitant to atm waiting for all the bugs to be worked out before upgrading.

Doing a fresh installation of 10.6 isn't a bad idea though, as the default drivers for the 285 Mac are already streamlined into the OS.

SuperDuper
TimeMachine
Carbon Copy Cloner

Those are good at backups, and at making bootable clone backups, that no one should ever be without when running Mac OS.

In fact I would never install a new Apple Mac OS over another, or do so without a couple backups. And a copy of Disk Warrior. But at this point, I'd probably wait for 10.6.2. May be weeks, likely not more than a month. All graphic drivers are rolled into the OS, and into any OS updates. Standalone graphic driver updates are the exception and very rare, usually once when a new card comes out.

Thanks Mac_Vista.  I do currently run Time Machine atm onto a 1TB Lacie external so thats a non-issue but I will wait for 10.6.2 at least.  Fortunately I have the GT120 stock as a back up that seems to be working just fine.  Its just odd since the 285 worked fine for months even when I was running 10.5.8 and only recently started acting up so it just didn't seem like an OS problem.

And you lack a bootable backup I take it? So when you want to repair your system, what, you boot from DVD (that won't be the latest version). Keep OS X on a couple drives/partitions, and keep a small plain Apple vanilla "Emergency Only" boot drive for maintenance and repairs.

I don't believe I lack a bootable version, not that I know of, I have my time machine backing up everything every hour so I mean that should be a bootable backup no?

You can't repair your system drive unless you have a 2nd boot drive, and it is advisable to use the latest versions of Apple Disk Utility, not just what is on a DVD. Plus, HFS+ is 'fragile' enough that a more reliable and robust disk repair utility like Alsoft Disk Warrior is a must.

I'd try out SuperDuper for free and see what it does in making a clone that is bootable.
 http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html

I use that before every applying or installing any of Apple software updates or making other changes.
Boot from it and repair the main drive. Make a test system drive.
Run TechTool Pro 5 and Disk Warrior for preventative maintenance, and because Apple's DU misses things.

And I would not rely on TimeMachine or any one method or backup set. Ever. Redundancy.

See the fact is Mac_Vista64 I am not having any issues on my system booting at all, all I was looking for was the best way for me to do a Snow Leopard clean install rather than just "update" its not a mandatory thing, my system is running fine on a GT120 GFX, I am mainly just looking for advice as to why my GTX 285 after running perfectly fine on System 10.5.8 for like 4 months decides now to kernel panic daily and up to 3-4 times with in a 3h period a week ago.  I don't think my OS has anything to do with the issues the card is giving me at all.

If your getting kernal panics it's most likely a hardware issue especially if it just suddenly started having issues.

Kernel panics are usually hardware (RAM, USB, etc) but I don't know about WoW and how it plays on Snow Leopard and with the GTX 285.  Never played games let alone Wow.

I was only addressing a safe approach to backups and to moving to 10.6.2 when it comes out.
