Jesus, sorry to hear of this! I think that it should be the card, i havent heard anywhere of any issues with the 9260 like this at all! just nothing even close, and even with firmware issues the only thing ive heard of is just not being able to get into OS, not anything effecting performance/settings. If you tell them straight up that you are convinced it is the card and would like RMA, i bet they would grant it. i hope they would. if they dont i know who you could email, if you need ask me and i will give you the email addy, and explain your case to him, he will help you :)

    Thanks Buddy..
I appreciate your willingness to help..
I have always dealt with Michaela Koert...he seems so helpful, but probably tired of hearing from me..
When I had my evga board,I sent all the logs,etc..so I was told to rma the bbu...got it back..all was well like a week, then bbu dropping in and out, high heats in bbu..not able to manage it from storage manager..same as before
I built this Asus P6TD Deluxe..same exact thing..started a ticket..once again, they thought the bbu..was just about to rma then I tried to put the card in a x16 slot..works like a charm now:)
No more warnings, bbu I am able to access from storage manager, always shows..
Its so weird as in my x8 slot it worked but had all thoses bbu problems on both the evga and asus board..
One thing I have noticed with this asus board though is my drive scores are about 50-75 mb/s slower then the evga board..
Guess maybe it must be the pcie throughput or something, but this thing is stable, and have the lastest firmware for the lsi, storage manager, and driver..
So..this board seems to be ok with the lsi firmware, but has only 2 x16 pcie..and one x8..which doesn't seem to like it the 8x
Lucky for me,I have only one video card..Next project will be an HD 5970..
I miss my evga board though..but been able to OC this ok,and seems solid in build, and process..
My poor lsi card,..its been upflashed, down flashed, bbu connecting, disconnecting for days on end randomly, bbu recording high heats..warning,warning,warning..and it is still ticking..better then ever...lol...
I almost resorted to the bbu external mount kit, which is kinda rare..luckily doesn't look like heats an issue anymore..
Thanks for posting..I am still hoping a fix for the evga as I would like to stick it back in here..
I have been looking at the secure erase, wiper process,etc...
I am wondering how often one should do this,or if maybe my loss of speed could be related to this..reloading os a few times, etc,,
Any tips on good utilities for this, etc much appreciated..:)
    Thanks Much Computurd..
Your always so willing to help..:)
    Have A Great day..

sorry havent been in here for awhile. disappointing no fix yet! i check every week at LSI site for new FW, but no go thus far.

I have been looking at the secure erase, wiper process,etc...

yeah the only way i know of still sucks, and that is running the SE on the drives in IDE mode. the only good advice i have is to use a good imaging software to pull it off quickly and pain free. Acronis or windows restore image function work well!

well there is a new firmware, and we need a brave soul to test it! the fix log is tremendously large, so who wants to give it a shot?

lol, the last 2 cost me rma's, and lsi wasn't too pleased with 2 rma's within 10 days, they came thru but I believe what they left unsaid was don't pull this again...ie...not me this time, sry
besides comp, do you think the problem can be fixed from LSI's side, i was under the impression that the onus is on EVGA here, with their bios

My advice, Dont use RAID cards for OS drives when updating firmware/drivers

But I think its safe to say LSI was to blame for all of this unless EVGA had a fix in the latest BIOS update.
I hope SiL never does this because I have 20TB tied into my SiL 3132 poert multiplier RAID card

seems to me that it was LSI with the new FW, one of the listed bug fixes was fixing system bios hang, thanks to Jacob and LSI

i can't confirm it will work on your mobo but i would be very surprised if it did not , it did not come with any special roll back procedure either like the last FW update, so rolling back should be relatively easy if it will not work

                              Merry Xmas guys!

might be playing with E770 later, so anyone confirm latest 9260-8i firmware fixes issues for Class 3 E770 ?

No,  the LSI 9260-8i is still broken. I sent mine back to NewEgg after 3 weeks and 3 eVGA motherboards.
The LSI 9260-8i does not work with my e759, e760 and it definately DOES NOT work with the new Classified 3 e770

I jumped through every conceivable firmware BIOS flashing upgrading then downgrading fix that was suggested by LSI. In the end they told me flat out they would not support the 9260 on any of my eVGA motherboards.  I am happy to be rid of this LSI 9260-8i  P.O.S.  card.

I am looking at an Areca 1880i or 1880ix card now. Yes they are more money, but I would rather have a $600-$1100 working card than a $500 paperweight any day.

it's not the cards fault and it is a very good raid card on a mobo where it will work, the issue is LSI and EVGA will not play nice together, and it seems from my personal experience that neither really cares to make it work...
even worse I believe they know exactly what the problem is and still doesn't get addressed, just ignored

I am sure the LSI card is a very nice card. I read glowing reviews of it and of it's value compared to other cards.

After having this card and dealing with LSI for 3 weeks I also agree that they really do not care to fix what ever is wrong and YES I think they know exactly what is wrong here. It is the definition of "insanity" for me to bang my head on a wall and thinking that my groans and pleas will make one bit of difference. Time is money and I do not have time in my life to solve other companies technical problems for free. If their product does not work, I make a decent effort to investigate and then accept the results. I am grateful for this community where others like myself can air out these issues and compare notes. LSI has no such  2 way discussion. I post my results here so others can make a better informed decision than I did.

I thank everyone who has written about the LSI 9260 controller.

I was planning to get LSI 9260 - but after reading this thread I have concluded that it won't work with E760 MB ?
No matter which LSI firmware or EVGA BIOS I use this combination won't work ?
                                    m'I right ?

Hey Comp :P. I am not sure myself as i had the E759. The last firmware released before Christmas time bricked one of my drives. ( i think i posted it on OCZ and you might have seen it ).

But from what i can remember it was working flawlessly and even increase my read speeds. I went from like 1300-1400 reads to 1900 reads. NOw i am not sure as to what caused one of my drives to fail with that firmware that was released before christmas but i am leaning towards that drive being weaker than the rest and not holding up to the new firmware.

Again it worked for me and if you go down a bit on page 76 you will see my increase in speed and then the crash lol. I have posts there with my numbers before my drive failed.

I parted out a few things for my rebuild that is coming up soon so i have not been able to test once i got my Replacement drive from ocz. sORRY =(

But it did indeed work for me as the last firmware was causing that horrible issue in the pages before 76 ( i posted the same problem) and i had to backflash to get it to work. LSI also told me the same thing about the ROM not being enough and that these cards were made for server motherboards that have a lot of ROM so tough luck to us :P

Anyone with LSI 9260 updated to EVGA beta  BIOS 80?  I'm having issues with Intel ICH10 and i'm not seeing my raid0 drives on the ICH10 (on bios level itself) and i dont have problem seeing he LSI drives?   Just want to make sure it due to the LSI card?  Coming back to bios 78 fixes the issue?
