Yesterday my computer was working perfectly, today when I tried to boot it up from sleep mode, it started beeping and would not even get to the P55 LE screen or even the windows loading screen.  Nothing, just blank screen.

I have tried shutting down and booting up about 12 times now.  I've tried CMOS reset, unplugging PSU, reseating RAM, and testing each with a single stick in memory slot 1.  

The debug LED shows codes 68, d4, d5, and 34.  In that order.  Once it gets to 34 it stays there and then starts a steady succession of beeps.  It's like "beep...beep...beep...beep" and just keeps doing that.


my system:

i5 750 OC'd to 3.6GHz
4 GB G.skill 1600 RAM
9800 GTX+
550w OCZ fata1ity PSU


Should be noted that last week is the first that I've OC'd the i5.  I had it at 3.2Ghz stable for several days before stepping it up to 3.4, at which point I had to increase the voltage a little bit to get it stable from testing in prime95.  Then, the day before yesterday (May 21st) I bumped it up to 3.6Ghz, increasing the voltage a step or two again.  It was running fine.  Prime95 testing for several hours and the temps on all 4 cores never went above 65 degrees Celsius.  Usually stayed around 60-61 C under full load.  

From looking at what little info you posted I believe your PSU is to small. Its common for a psu to supply enough volts for a few days if overstressed and then to start degrading and 550w seems to small for a overclocked i5-750.

Please post a little more info on your system and settings and in the meantime here is a link to a couple  nice little programs that gives you an idea of how much power you need.

That tells me I need 373w minimum, 423w max.  I did this wattage calculator before I overclocked and I thought I had plenty of headroom to work with because of this.

mobo:  EVGA p55 LE
CPU:  i5 750 OC'd to 3.6GHz
GPU:   EVGA 9800 GTX+
RAM:  G.Skill 2x2 GB 1600MHz  (model # F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ)
CD/DVD drive: DVD/CD-RW Sony combo
PSU: 550w OCZ Fata1ity
Case fans: 5x 120mm, 2x 140mm
CPU cooler:  Coolermaster Hyper 212+ (2 of the 120mm fans are hooked to this)




Like I said, I OC'd to 3.6GHz.  It was running fine at that speed for about two days.  Had great temps.  Never went above 65 C at full load on Prime95.


I should mention that I've had this build for almost a year now, and the overclock is definitely the prime suspect here as I just overclocked it to 3.6GHz three days ago..  It would make sense that it possibly degraded the PSU so it doesn't supply enough wattage now.


But, would that make the Post codes I saw?  On the debug LED?  I couldn't find those codes on EVGA's list.  None of them.

I just did the ASUS test, and that one says minimum recommended is 600w.

The 550W are enough... 

You have to test all components in other systems.. maybe the graphic card got a problem?

you didnt post how many HDD you have.

but Ill bet you are right on the edge of what that 550w PSU can supply, it may not be the problem but it could be.

I would keep it in mind and continue to look at other possibilities, I thought of that first though because something very similar happened to me and after a long time of trying to figure things out I bought a new larger  PSU  and fixed my problem

I have only one HDD.  7200 RPM 320 GB SATA.


I have swapped out the graphics card for one that uses much less power, it doesn't even require a 6 pin connector.  Still the same result.  Won't boot, gives me same error codes on the debug LED and then the beeping.

I then swapped the PSU out with a more powerful one, 750w, and same thing.  It won't boot, same debug LED codes and beeping.

Is it safe to eliminate PSU/wattage as the culprit now?    



I am unable to test different RAM/mobo/CPU because I don't have extras that work on a P55 board, and I don't have an extra p55 mobo, so...before I take further steps I'm going to be relying on forum help and customer service, if they even get around to answering me.

I would first unplug any USB devices and try booting again - I have had USB drives screw with boot up... worth a look ;)

Already tried unplugging all USB devices, no luck there.  


And yes, looks like next step is to call customer service, really hate doing that though.  They usually just ask you to do everything you've already tried ten times already.  However maybe I can get an answer about those debug codes.

Update:

I tried taking the battery out of the board, left it out for a couple hours to make sure things would reset, and when I put it in I noticed something I hadn't noticed before.  There is an orange LED light beside the RAM indicating that the slots are working, and it is usually always on.  The morning the PC stopped booting, I noticed before I turned it on that the orange light was off.  I kind of shrugged it off, and forgot about it in my surprise that my PC wouldn't boot (probably because at the time I didn't know what that light was for ;) ).   The orange light hasn't been on the last 2 days I've been troubleshooting this, but when I put the battery back in, the orange light was back on.  When I booted, same error code happened, and when I shut it off the orange light was off again.

So I'm looking at possible memory slot failure.  Could that be from the overclocking?  I never went under the recommended voltage for the RAM (1.50v) and I never went over 1.65v.  It was at set at 1.55v.  I also never went over the max frequency of the RAM, which is 1600MHz.

I've tried it all it SEEMS like. I've had my build for a year and I was even deployed for 4 months and it was off the whole time. I've been back for over a month using my computer with no issues until I put my computer on sleep and stepped away for a few hours and tried to bring it back out of sleep like I have done countless other times but nothing came on the monitor and all I got was the repetitive beeps. Please help me, it's driving me crazy. I've contacted EVGA twice already, no dice.

Are you getting any debug codes when trying to boot up?  Look at your motherboard.  Near the SATA plugs,  there should be a little screen that will show some numbers when booting up.  Record those, especially the number before it hangs. 
 
Also,  what did EVGA support tell you?

So I checked back in with EVGA for a third time last week and they told me that the beep code I had (68, d4, d5 34) was an unassigned POST code. His says it's something the designers just didn't assign because if you receive this message you wont be able to troubleshoot it, something along those lines. Either way he gave me a RMA.
