Replacement fan for EVGA GTX 460 SC (01G-P3-1363-KR) Friday, August 10, 2012 12:37 AM (permalink)
Hi!

Regarding: EVGA GTX 460 SC (01G-P3-1363-KR)

About a month back I bought two of these graphics cards to run i SLI. Im very happy with the performance of these cards in games I play, at the moment mainly The Secret World. But I am extremely unhappy with the fan noice. To be honest it drives me to the brink of insanity. Im trying to keep the fan running at 50-55%, this will keep my card at 80-85 degrees. This seems a bit high temp, but the thought of running the fan at a higher rate is unthinkable. My wife and kids would probably wake up at nightime.

So anyway I have been browsing the net for a fan replacement. But I cant seem to find any that assured to be compatable with this card. I dont wanna buy something online just to realize that its not compatible.

So Im posting this hoping that others on these forums have found compatible fans for these cards and are willing to make a recommendation, or other hints as to where to find a more silent compatable solution.

Thanks for any replys!

Best Regards,

There are two great coolers available HERE and HERE.  The problem with this solution is that each card with these coolers will occupy 3 slots of space in your case.  Be sure you have the room.

Your problem from high temps may be that you need more airflow through the case to bring in a larger volume of colder air, and expel a larger volume of hotter air.  You might also need a fan blowing between the cards to give the top one more cool air on the intake.

Your cards are interally exhausted, so take a look at better airflow as a way to improve acoustics (lower GPU fan speeds).

Thank you for posting this. I was checking out the arctic cooling earlier today, but im puzzled by this "reference design" thing. Is EVGA cards reference design?
I think I have ok cooling in the case. 5 140 mm fans blowing air into case and one pulling air out. Maybe I need two fans for outtake? Anyway my motherboard and cpu idle around 30 degrees celcius. Thats ok right?
      Thanks again for replying.

Yeah 30c is idle. And yeah your card is reference I believe. Non-reference just means EVGA or whoever had a custom pcb made for the card.

Like 580's, most are reference, but the 580 Classified is non-reference, because it was customized (non-reference).

Those coolers should fit the 1363-KR.

Do you have one slot space between the cards or are the right against each other?  Are both cards running hot, or just the top one?

            Hi!

I have one PCI slot left between cards and only the top card is running hot and noice. So first I think I should get that one replaced, and maybe later the other one if it startsacting up making more noice. Im not very worried about temps, just the noice. I want the comp to be as silent as possible (without components breaking ofcourse). Dont care much about OC and stuff like that either.

Thanks for replying guys, I will get the arctic cooling tomorrow.
