I would say the forum for whatever distro you are using would be the best place to go. Ubuntu forums are very active. Linux Questions.org is a general Linux forum. Always turns up in searches. I use Puppy Linux, so that is the forum I like. Good Luck

What Will said. Always best to check the specific distro forums for advice/help. For general *nix help, it gets a bit more confusing. However, there are plenty of *nix sites out there that review the basics and offer insight on how things work for various Linux/Unix systems. I personally thing the FreeBSD handbook is outstanding (it is specific for FreeBSD, however, it does cover *nix basics...which can be applied to most Linux distros). Good luck and have fun.
"BSD is what you get when a bunch of Unix hackers sit down to try to port a Unix system to the PC. Linux is what you get when a bunch of PC hackers sit down and try to write a Unix system for the PC."
