I love the effort guys. I wish I could fold a bit harder but I have had to scale back to around 450k a month. with me being away from the office during the summer heat, I just dont trust my rig not to burn the place to the ground (literally). I will try to make up for it in a few months with a 4p build. for those slugging the heat out, my respect.

I'm new to the folding world (just started folding for EVGA on Wed). Thankfully the weather has been a bit cool - espcially this weekend. My office feels like a sauna. I'll help as much as I can, but it'll probably be a couple WU per day. I'm only going to be able to run, the cards at least, over night.

Every WU completed, whether in the name of EVGA or not, is one step closer to helping solve some pretty difficult questions. Glad to have you aboard!!

Thanks all - very glad to (finally) be folding. And, as has been stated, every WU counts - be it 1 or 100.

I've just signed on. Let's see what this 670 FTW can do. It's running at 1200 100% stable, and I haven't even had a chance to push it yet.

I just have to wonder if the editor over at [H] has ANY idea what 'Cognitive Dissonance' is, and, if so, how it applies to the following.

I used to have that disease, but was prescribed EVGA-bucks once a month and I've been cured ever since! They can heal a bunch of people over there in one-fell-swoop, by editing that message and changing the "33" to "111065". Let the healing begin!

I'm in the process of moving to a new place...so I haven't been around much and won't be until I get settled. I think EVGA is a little backed up with the 13th Year Anniversary, but hopefully when things settle down in another week we can get our message out and really get this ball rollin!

So - with the rash of 8008 WU's on my GPU's, I've been able to run 24x7 - pushing around 75k PPD (with my CPU thrown in for good measure). Should break the million mark here in about 2-3 weeks. As long as I keep getting the 'cool' WU's on my cards, I'll keep it rolling 24x7.

No worries Troy, our Team is running well IMO and new members are joining quite regularly. Our short term trend is up (even in the summer heat) and people are pressing the limits to help with the cause. Whenever EVGA can help us get the word out to more people will be fine and still welcomed. All the best in your move!

I'm no longer getting 6901, 6903, 6904 wu's with the x58 classi. Time to put the sr-2 together. I just need the cpu's but my wife won't give in. I'll keep trying though, lol.

Yes, the last generation of Bigadvs are gone for anything that is running less than 16 threads of CPU. So, make sure that you select Xeons for your SR-2 that have the speed and HT thread-count (hexa-core would be best) to complete the new generation of Bigadvs. My SR-2 with dual 5620s (16 threads) OC'd to 3.8GHz are just under the ability to complete these new-generation Bigadvs on time. Just wanted to warn you about Xeon chip selection before you make a buy. Just tell the wife that this move on your parts could be the difference between facing Alzheimers one day or any number of other nasty diseases. That stuff appeals to my wife, otherwise I'd be toast with all the Folding investments! Glad to see you around and don't be shy about asking for help from us here or over in the main Folding areas of the forum.

Punchy texinga My SR-2 with dual 5620s (16 threads) OC'd to 3.8GHz are just under the ability to complete these new-generation Bigadvs on time. What is the minimum you'd need to make the deadline safely including up/download times on 8101 with 16 Xeon threads? 4.0GHz? More GHz won't help with my existing 5620s because they are unstable for Folding at 4GHz. So, my guesstimate would be that I'd have to at least be running a hexa-core Xeon of at least 3.8GHz. I know that an 8101 has a max "preferred" time of 2.4 days (or 57hrs, 36mins). Most of my Bigadv uploads in Linux run 14mins. My situation also assumes that I'm running Linux in VirtualBox because I can't dedicate my SR-2 to Linux. Still need to access Windows every day. Honestly, this boxen (along with no more Bigadv in Windows) is just not suited for these new Bigadvs anymore. It has seen its better day and I'd have to drop more coin into it to solve the problem. If I'm going to have to spend even $1000 for a couple better Xeons, the question becomes why not save that and put it toward another 4P? I don't know the exact answer to your question and I also don't see/hear of people with 5620s at 3.8Ghz completing these new Bigadvs. Even if I could squeak by, if PG launches a Bigadv any more stringent than the 8101, I'm in trouble and would fail the return time. I think my SR-2 still has plenty of legs as my daily driver, Photoshop/Video producer, gaming rig and whatever else I can do. So it's still a very viable PC and can still do standard SMPs. So, not to shabby IMO and I could live with that...

I know anyone can do math 2.4 day deadline x 24 hours - 1 hour upload x 60 minutes / 100 frames = max 33.96 minutes per frame. Nothing going wrong. Just to add some info, My sr-2 dual e5645' running 24 threads run at 3.45 hz have a tpf of 27:15 minutes on a 8101. Takes 1.9 days or 46 hours. Total points 220k-230k and about 110k-115k ppd. 15-20 minute upload. Cl9 ram, numa off, kraken on. Dedicated folder.
