Precision x with GTX 295 Tuesday, July 10, 2012 12:29 PM (permalink)
hey guys just couple questions for Precision x with GTX 295.

it's 2 GPUs, so i have syns on, and i set the GPU clock to 700mhz and left memory clock stock at 999mhz, but when i play games like dota2, how come the GPU clock always stays at 399, it's making my game lag...how can i have my GPU to work at full 700 mhz?

700mhz is a big OC for that card.  I would recommend setting it no higher that 625MHz without some good other tweaking.  The GPU is likely clocking down because it is crashing the drivers and the default clock when the driver crash is 399MHz.

I have the same issue with 285s in SLI, I finally took sometime to trouble shoot it, it turns out that if I remove a card they my system runs fine. Both cards run like champs by them selves.

But in SLI I'm getting the same issue you are having. When I run a game it drops to 399 and I can't move it (I didn't try clocking it under that) I believe it boils down to my PSU which is a 1000watt supply, but I went back and read reviews for it and a lot of reviews say that it isn't really 1000watts.

If you find another solution for your problem I would love to know also.

So at 4am last night I had the idea that maybe I have to many things plugged into my Surge protector (3 monitors, tv, xbox, stereo, some other things)... So I got out of bed, went to the basement, hooked everything back up and only had my pc plugged into my surge protector.

It seemed to be working, my Steam had an error while updating so I had to mess with that, meanwhile tested my Origin games (ME3, BF3) and my clock speed stayed up. I'll know more after the weekend, had to go back to bed.
