monitor output Thursday, June 28, 2012 9:46 AM (permalink)
The issue is, I have 2 Asus GTX 580 DC2s with EK water blocks. I added a second radiator that hangs off the back of the case , but it also covers the HDMI port of the top card. I have tried to plug into the bottom card but when I boot the system, I get a black screen.
SLI on this EVGA Classified 4way is active and working. Is ther anything I can do to get the output changed?

Can you attach pics of how the radiator is hung? You may need to get a bigger bracket so it hangs farther back. There is no way to change which card it reads from what I understand, then again, I have never tried.

Sorry, but I have no pictures as yet but you are correct that a bigger bracket is needed. I was hoping there was something in the bios or full boot way to configure this. It just dawned on me and I will try this when I get home from work, but , if I turn off the SLI then reboot and I.D. 2 monitors(1 per card), and then tell the lower card that it is the main (number 1)monitor, then reboot to 1 monitor(lower card) and then find and use upper card in SLI.
Something tells me it will work. Peace

The problem is even if you could manage to 'trick windows' you'd still not have a display when you boot as the display drivers load with the OS.

I will cross fingers and try at 11pm when I am at home. I know with 2 monitors on one card it will work, the question is can it be done across 2 cards, SLI or other wise. But the end result if it doesn't work is that I get to build the water box sooner rather than later.

Well it worked, kinda. As luck would have it, new system build and O.S., I have no password set. With SLI on and only selecting the lower card monitor, my system went thru the complete boot up and then finally powered on the lower card monitor, the only monitor attached. Kinda nerve racking, how ever I will have to switch to a DVI port on the top card thats out of the way of the rad so that I can have access to the bios. Thanks for sharing and  reading the post.
