RAM and CPU OC help

I have read through other posts here and I am having slightly different issues. Here are my specs: MB - EVGA Z77 CPU - 2600K RAM - Corsair 1600 4 x 4GB VC - EVGA 580 GTX 3GB PS - Thermaltake 1500W SSD - 2 x Kingston SSD 128GB RAID 0 on Intel HD - WD Green on Marvell BD on Marvell Watercooled system for CPU and VC RAM - no matter what I do, it will not accept any other setting than 1333. I tried User Defined, XMP 1 and XMP 2. I also tried Auto, 100 and 133 on the Clock Multiplier. Whenever I change the frequency to 1600, sometimes it will change After adjust Memory Freq to 1600 but the Current Memory Frequency will stay 1333. Sometimes the After adjust Memory Freq wont change from 1333. I try to Save, Save and Reset and Save and Exit. When I go back in, it is always 1333 both in the settings page and on the first page of the BIOS. cpuz and E Leet say 667 for the RAM. I had the off/on cycle issue for awhile too, fixed it by finding 2 sticks that work and have those 2 in the red slots. Anyone know why I cant change my memory frequency? On my old board, a Gigabyte Z68, it would run fine at 1600. CPU - It runs fine at 44 multiplier. Never gets over 50C. No crashes or anything. Whenever I try 45 or anything higher, it wont boot. Never gets to the beeps. Sometimes it just hangs, sometimes it does the off/on cycle thing. I have tried Auto and 1250-1275 for the voltage. No changes. I had to do the 1000 setting fix on the IA Core Current and Power Limit 1/2 for it to read 4.4 Ghz in Windows, before BIOS would take 44 multiplier but Win7 would show 4.1 Ghz. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas why it does it? I also had the off/on cycle before with the Z68 board. I thought my RAM was bad since I got this one to work with 2 sticks. But would a bad CPU cause the memory to not OC and not boot over 45 multiplier? And do the off/on cycle thing at boot? Will this be the issue I need to justify getting a 3770K?

I'm having same problem, i7 2700K. CPU clocks happily all day. RAM is stuck. XMP1 crashes system into BIOS loop. CMOS reset to clear it. Corsair Dominator GT PC-17066 (2133), it won't run any higher than 1333MHz.

YOU MUST put in the frequency and save and Exit before going back into the bios and changing the timings and voltages. They won't stick of you do it all at once. It's how the bios was designed. also make sure that you guys have the latest 1.04 bios installed.

_corTEC Thankyou, can I run 1600MHz @ 1.5V though? if the memory is rated at that speed.

It's rated up to 2133MHz, so everything in between? On LGA775, 1066MHz MEM can run everything below, well according to ratio and QPI, but just about everything below its SPD. Is DDR3 different. Man, I spent too long with my Q9550 and XMS2 RAM!!! I don't know anything anymore.

I'm not even trying to change the timings and voltages yet, just trying to get it to accept the freq change. No matter what I do, it wont change from 1333. I tried saving and exiting, saving, and saving and restarting. Is this an issue with Sandy Bridge maybe? I didn't try 1.04 yet because the fixes didn't look like they applied, just fixes for memory over 2000 and adding the F10 function. I will try it to see if it works.

I am thinking it is an issue with sandybridge. I am coming to that conclusion off another thread.

Say, have you tried two dimms in the red slots. I see you have 4X4gb. Try two in the red and then just try putting in the frequency, exit and save. Then tell me what happens.

Delirious Say, have you tried two dimms in the red slots. I see you have 4X4gb. Try two in the red and then just try putting in the frequency, exit and save. Then tell me what happens. I am running it now with 2 in the red slots. When all 4 are in, I get the off/on cycle thing with a cold boot. I took all out and put them in 1 at a time til I got 2 that worked, and I'm using just those 2. My old Z68 board did this too so I thought maybe I had 2 bad RAM sticks. Now I think its either my CPU, or an issue with Sandy Bridge all together. Maybe I will convince myself to go ahead and get a 3770K now. Either way though, with 2 or 4, the freq wont change at all. I didn't get around to trying 1.04 yet.

So I got 2 sticks of Kingston 2133 8GB RAM, put them in the 2 red slots, and still cant change the frequency from 1333. I have a 3770K coming, so hopefully it will fix my problems. If not, this board hasnt been much better than my old Z68 board. Also updated to 1.04 BIOS, no change to issues but I have had 1 lockup in Windows and 1 BSOD, and its only been about 2 hours. Hopefully there will be a new BIOS coming soon.

Like Delirious said, its Sandy Bridge. I got a 3770K, same RAM and now I can OC up to 2000. Wont boot with any settings over 2000 though. And 2 of my DIMMS stopped working. Going to mail the board back on Tuesday for RMA.

Yes. I think they didnt test any SB with this board. It gave me an excuse to switch to a 3770K, but I think my old 2600K had issues anyway.

not only cant I get the memory to run at anything other then 1333MHz but no matter what i do I can't even get the CPU to OC at all either!!!!!!!!! this is just not funny any more. it looks like i to am going to rma the sandy and try to convince N.E. that they need to switch me out to 3770K!!!! should have got one in the 1st place but the thermal issues with the chip held me back. themal issues or no if I can't OC my 2700K there is no reason to keep it!!!!!
