first off i put this here cause it isnt about cooling and is actually a question about component compatibility on the E770 board so with that said:
 
curious as i have been looking and still havent found one.
 
basically i am wanting to know what all cpu heatsink fans fit the E770 motherboard without covering up any dimm slots or making the use of tall heatpreaders impossible.
 
the 2 hsf i am looking at for my  classy 3 build are the zalman cnps9900MAX-R (which looks to be almost the same size as a 9700led), and of course the noctua NH-D14 (although id be more inclined to replace the stock fans with cougar fans :D )
 
so i am asking anyone that has used either of these 2 heatsink fans on a E770 motherboard to share input on them in terms of ram with tall heatpreaders, and if they cover any of the ram slots.

Up until 2 days ago, I was running the Zalman CNPS9900 Max-B and it was by far the best air cooler I've ever used.  I don't have ram with high heat spreaders, but you won't cover any ram slots for sure and I'm 100% sure that the fins of the cooler will easily clear ram with high spreaders.  I'm looking for a pic I can attach for you to see.

thanks i figured the zalman would fit so i know id be good with that one but the question still remains on whether the noctua nh-d14 would fit. 
 
so does anyone out there have a noctua nh-d14 on na evga x58 classified 3 or have had one and can share whether it fits without blocking ram slots or limiting ram options to low (40mm or less in height) ram/heatspreaders?

hmm so no one has any comments on the noctua cpu cooler?  on the x58 classy 3?

Get one of these.  presently using it on my classy 3 as an intake with 2 of these http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12365/fan-811/Scythe_Gentle_Typhoon_120mm_x_25mm_Fan_-_5400_RPM_D1225C12BBAP-31.html and love it!  
 
as for large air coolers almost all of them cover the first dimm slot.

I personal would do the H80 but thats just me.
I used evgas cooler for testing purposes its smaller than the noctua but it covered the first dimm and was up against my dominator GTs side and fins.

I currently use a Prolimatech Super Mega on a E770.  In front-to-back arrangement,  it clears first ram slot with 25mm thick 120mm fans. It clears the NB better than Zalman CNPS10X Flex.

thanks although i was looking at teh cnps9900 maxr not the 10x LOLprolimatech huh?  come with fans or requires seperatley?  fans red led?  25mm thick 120mm fans available with red led's?

The Noctua NH-D14 is pretty solid, and the stock fans are very good, replacing them with Cougar fans would be unneccesary as the noctuas are better performers.
