i slap all of my 1.5+ onto externals.... Green drives have tendency to go go bad 8-15 months Seagate's realiablity is about the same Samsung was just bought by seagate , so I will not be buying them anymore... They were the fastest/coolest ( temp wise)/ most reliable drives i've used to date
All the problems of the world could be settled easily if men were only willing to think. The trouble is that men very often resort to all sorts of devices in order not to think, because thinking is such hard work. -Thomas J. Watson

You mean Samsung bought Seagate? 8-12 months? Thats just crazy. I have an old 40GB drive thats nearly 15 years old and still works. Is it just because drives that high are newer technology or what. You would think larger drives would be more reliable because they have the potential to hold the most data.

VequalsITR Seagate's realiablity is about the same i disagree, i have 2 wd's, 2 hitachis, and 2 seagates and the only dives i have had to replace, rma, or had any problems with in general were the western digitals. my seagates have ran just fine since day one and both of them are 320 gig dives used as the main operating system drive the other drives are uses as storage. doesnt matter what hard drive it is you have to consider that its hardware and there will be some bad ones but just because one person has an issue with a brand doesnt mean someone else will again i point to my prior comment and clarify that alot of people like wd, (and asus for that matter) and i have had the worste luck with them (wd and asus).
i am offended by your sig so you need to remove it.

I've never had an issue with a Seagate driver either, only ones that have failed or had problems with were the cheapo ones like Deskstar, Toshiba, and Maxtor.

At my work, we have a mixture of over 3000 WD Black/Blue/Green drives, around 1000 seagates, and probably around 1000 samsung drives going across our workstations that are constantly being scanned and used, and with the exception of the WD Blacks, the WD Blue fail the most, then the seagates, then the samsungs. We have failure rates of about 3 drives per day and its almost gauranteed that one is a WD Blue. Of the three "Cheaper" models, I would go for the Samsungs. They fail the least, and this is real world results here of non stop usage, so its something that can be trusted. I cant say for sure the lifespan of drives that are not under constant use, in those cases, some other drives may be better, but thats not we use them for.

I never had any problems with Seagate/Samsung, they are good drives. western digital on the other hand, while I never had one of thier drives completely fail, I did have a couple that made clicking noises once a while, not constantly.

I just couldnt imagine losing 2TB of DATA. Occasionally my 1TB drive isnt recognized and i have to reboot but its far from failing. Just a crappy controller i think on the mobo or loose connection. But it scared me half to death the first time it happened.

Though I'm still unsure what really happened until now...I think I tried switching the SATA cable between the HDDs.

These 3 tb drives are disappearing off the local brick and mortar shelves. I think 4 TB will be coming soon to the seagate/Samsung line. Good price
