Water pump question Wednesday, June 20, 2012 1:25 AM (permalink)
Hey I was curious about the ideal flow rate for a water cooling system, depending on the number of components being cooled. I've heard from someone (don't quite remember who) on here that too fast of a flow rate can be just as bad as too slow.

Here's my situation, XSPC X2O 750 pump, built into the reservoir, along with an RX360 radiator. It's cooling nothing but my CPU right now. Was wondering if the 750lph flow rate of this loop is too fast or slow for cooling just my CPU? It's an XSPC Rasa block btw. I have an NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller just sitting around collecting dust, so if my flow rates on the loop is too fast I can always put my pump on the fan controller. Think that may be a good idea?

It's cooling my new 3770K Right now I'm stress testing 4.6GHz with LinX, running at 1210mV. Peak temp of the hottest core so far is 81C... usually hovers in the high 70s. Seems rather high to me still... despite the fact IB CPUs run notoriously hot. My ambient is currently 77F.

HAF X case, rad mounted on the top, 3 x AP-14 fans mounted above the rad in the slot where the default 200mm fan goes... fans are in exhaust orientation, sucking air through the rad and out the top.

Stock 140mm, exhaust. I have my side 200mm as an intake, and front as intake of course.

that rad has a low fin per inch count so try turning the rear fan into a intake as well see if that drops temps

Ok I'll give that a shot... have to pickup a 140mm fan filter first

I still wish I had room for a push pull. I guess that's one disadvantage I can point out about the HAF X. This beast was built for air cooling in mind

I work at Fry's so I'd be able to get a good deal on the Switch 810 (I see that case almost everyday). However, I personally don't like the build quality of it too much. Seems kinda "flimsy".

As much as I like that case, still can't be bothered to take everything out of my HAF X. So many things I like about it

                                    - Main Z77 Gaming Rig

                                    - Secondary MicroATX Z77

                                    - Mini-ITX H77 Home Server

“The fascination of flight can't be expressed with words. But it really lies beyond the capabilities of human endeavor. Once you've experienced it, you'll never be able to forget it.” - Friedrich Oblessor
